If you simply must change, I'd go with the Speedlines. That said, I prefer your Carrera IIIs.

Stan,
What do you know about the early life of your car ? I mean, do you know who ordered it, and where it was delivered?
Also, you seem to believe that the configuration was inspired by the IAA (Frankfurt Motor Show) 1987 Yellow 928 that was on display in the Porsche stand. Do you have any picture of this car, especially of the interior?

I was contacted by the owner of the Frankfurt car,
he lives in the Netherlands and he has the car from the Frankfurt show.
It appears to have the same colored interior that is on my car.
Nicole from RL was at the Frankfurt auto show in 1987 she saw the Porsche display.
Also there was some factory pictures posted that appear to contain the Euro show car as it was being built.
Also I found another 88 Elfenbein Perlglanz car with a Saddle leather interior this one is living in Florida ,
it was in a storage area where a fire had occurred and the body has some lite heat damage and it needs an everything type restoration.
As far as my car goes from what i could find out.
It was ordered/ purchased by someone in Nebraska.
Then they sold to someone in Florida who owned it for a few years,
then it was sold to the the guy in California.
The CA owner had been using the car as a daily for quite a few years then,
he had the car parked on the street and eventually the battery went dead , since he was out of the country doing movie filming.,
the car would not run so it was accumulation parking tickets.
About this same time one of the contractors working on his house spotted the car,
and figured he could make a few bucks if he sold it,
and so he had the car towed to a shop where they replaced the LH and the alternator and the fuel pump, and the FPR.
this got the engine to run again so he took some pictures and posted them to E bay
I found the ebay auction and placed the winning bid while I was at the Hotel in Opa Locka FL.
I used the hotels computer in their office to win the car.
After winning the car and about 4 mins after the auctions close,
I received an Email from the owner saying the car was not for sale,
and he had the title, and he was not really sure why his car was on ebay.
The next day i got a call from the CA DMV police asking if I had paid any money for the car.
the STEALER guy wanted 5K upfront cash and he had an application for a title to transfer the ownership but didnt have a title.
The DMV Police had put a 30 day paper hold on the car so nothing could change hands.
I then got a call from the Owner and he told me he didnt want to sell the car, I told him I still would like to purchase it if he ever changed his mind.
The stealer was contacting me and trying to get me to send him his upfront cash,
I told him i need a title to send to my credit union for the release of funds,
he went to my credit union and was asking them to release cash to him,
what a knuckhead, they didnt give him anything.
The DMV Police could not find the stealer or the car,
as he had it hidden and they would not approve the overtime for a stakeout to try and catch the stealer
SO about 4 months later I get a call from the Owner and he says he decided he wanted to sell the car,
I told him I would buy it,
2 days later I was in LA with a bank check to purchase the car.
( NOTE I was living in Salt Lake City at the time, and after winning the auction got an E mail from a shop that was about 2 miles from my house called Motorsport, they said they had 12 928s for sale, so I went to the shop and after chatting for an hour or so the owner hired me to work on fixing 928s,
So i had also been working at Motorsport before the owner had contacted me about buying the Yellow car.
Thats how it came be at Motosport)
Anyway the DMV had since found the car and had it towed to the owners house,
I never found out the fate of the stealer.
Now when I got to the car It was leaking everything except coolant and gas.
So after We got a new battery at Pepboys, put it in and she fired right up.
I backed it up on a curb to check the trans level and it was dry, I then filled the trans with 2.5 qts, after this,
I found it would leak in neutral or park, with the engine running.
in drive or reverse the leak stopped so driving it was going to happen.
The Power steering leaked as fast as I could pour it into the tank so I cut off the belt.
I checked the air in the tires got the title and drove it from LA to SLC,
pretty much non stop cept for a 4 hour power nap.
Once at SLC I started the rebuild process since thats what the shop was geared to do.,
I have had this car since 2004 its still in my possession and it is carefully driven
The rest is history.

Thank you for the explanations, Stan!
Now, I know the VIN of the Frankfurt car, from the registration in Sweden
And, I have another question/request for you:
Would-it be possible to have a picture of the build sticker of your car, under the trunk's carpet?
I ask because I have recently seen a picture that makes me wonder if your car was not originally used as a Porsche company car.
It was built in March 1988, if I'm correct, but do you know at which date it was originally registered in the USA?
Also, I would like to see any other picture of the Frankfurt car on display. There was also a manual blue 928 S4, that could be interesting.
To finish, if someone likes 930 Cabriolet, here is a nice one, related to this thread:

Here is the picture I was refering to:
Hans Halbach and his 928 S4
This car is certainly the Frankfurt Car, but I would like to see interior pictures of this car to be sure.
The phone is not listed into the equipment list of the car, and there is no roof antenna on the current pictures, to the contrary of your car.
