Hallo. I've recently acquired a 1984 928S (S2?) schwartz on schwartz with 67k on it. It runs, it leaks, it takes turns on rails. It's a porsche.
The car is my project car which will eventually turn into a daily driver and parade lap club car. The car has sat for a number of years, so my goal this summer is to replace every gasket and seal I can find; before subjecting it to my driving style.
My other car is a formula vee for scca racing. I look forward to stripping and rebuilding the porsche to "like new" condition and then some.
I've spent the past few years racing various BMWs, so I'm well indoctrinated in the "Deutsche way" of engineering. Funny thing, the water pump on this 928 is falling apart. I was indoctrinated into the world of impellers when my E36 M3 impeller exploded and was gladly sucked deep into the engine during a race. The smoke screen was a cool trick to keep my position; however the corner workers didn't like it so much. The stewards really didn't like me dumping all my coolant and oil all over the braking zone. Good thing it was qualifying for the crew and I swapped engines by race time- good thing I was the last race group of the day too! My goal is to not do this to the 928.
Anyway, I look forward to being the porsche newbie and asking lots of questions; and at some point, being able to answer them.

Welcome! Glad to have you in the family!
You ought to replace that water pump and check all of the rollers and timing belt before you drive it any more. That could be some really bad news.
Enjoy the new shark!!!

Yeah, I ended up towing it from the guy I bought it from. I didn't want to have it explode and melt valves or anything before I had a chance to properly flog it. I've already discovered the Big 3 and will be just handing over my credit card for the next few months with a standing order of "everything".

Did this arrive Via Ebay?
Looks familiar.
If recently aquired means there is a sHARk clamped firmly to your ***...then...
welcome to the club.
Only 10k and a couple months to make her right? The shop is full of unexperienced liars...
Give em' time. With a little 928 experience they'll learn to double the estimate for time and cash
AFTER they start work on the car.
Sadly, for all of us, the old saw about love being blind is applicable to sHARk owners.
Pick up your obligatory tin cup full of pencils and the pitch black sunglasses at your first Frenzy.
Magnificent to look at while at rest and a hoot from zero to white knuckles...
ENJOY

Don't let anyone who hasn't done a timing belt -waterpump on a 928 touch your car. And welcome. Good time for new front seals. Many of the owners on this list do their own work. It has its up s and downs, but they are a happy lot.
deimos.....Are you in Canada?.. You mention Mosport, so I thought that might be a clue...Welcome, I too, owned an 84. I think I still have some parts in my shed for it come to think about it......good-luck with the rebuild.
