And I thought the Cup wheels looked hot on that car, you've taken it to another level! That is a sweet ride, hopefully mine will look like that one day...

Hi Randy,

>Those Kinesis wheels look fantastic on your 85!

Thanks.

> Which ones are you putting on the GT?

We just put some 18" Kinesis K28R Wheels on it with custom one-off Real Black Chrome Powdercoating. This the first and only set ever with this finish, still not sure if Kinesis will make in this finish again. They are darn hard to photograph, but here is a pic that shows how they look in person the best. If I can talk Jeannie into it we will most likely reuse these special centers with 19" rims.

Keith,

>Kinda like the BW's Dave had...nice wheels, but too much rim.

I agree, and after years of me (and others) bugging Kinesis and BW about this they are being redesigned (see photos)

>Dave, you had confidentially sent me a couple pics some months back of 2 different wheel styles >coming out this year...any news on them?

Yes, should have first sets in 4-6 weeks :-)

> Was one of them the BW's?

Yes, see photos, first is BW version shown in 18" Reverse Drop Center and second is Kinesis SuperCup "R" also in 18" Reverse Drop Center. Both will also be available in 19" version and maybe even a 19" RDC. FYI, these are pre-production castings but will give you an idea of how they will look.

Hi Alan,

>I like that those Supercup R's look a lot like the C2's from the early GTS's (except 3 piece & polished?)

Correct.

> what is this RDC - is it to do with the somewhat concave hub section?

RDC, is short for "Reverse Drop Center" , in reality what this means is instead of using an 18" sized center on an 18" wheel they use a 19" center on an 18" wheel. This gives you more "center" and less "rim" section for what most agree is a better look. They also use a smooth outer rim section that eliminates the "stepping" most outer rim section have. The same goes for a 19" wheel that uses a 20" center. Most manufacturers use the "R" notation after the Wheel Type (or name ) to distinguish this. I.E K28 or K28R. If you notice in my first post the 3 new Forgeline Wheels are designed that way originally and there is not "R" or "not R" version. Also of note the 3 19" Kinesis Wheels pictured are also available as "R" version (uses 20" centers).

I hope that makes sense.

>Will the 19's be different ?

Kinesis 19s can come in "R" or "not R" version, the new Forgeline Premier series are all "R" versions only.

>Will 265/30-19 on 9.5 wide fronts & 315/25-19's on 11 wide rear fit in the stock GTS fenders >without interference?

OH yeah, as a matter of fact we can get even wider on the rear of a GTS.

>what spacers/offsets does this require

None, HOWEVER if you want the "deep dish" center look for the rears you can remove the factory 35mm spacers (requires stud change) and we can compensate with the offsets to facilitate this.

> - is it really that easy?

Yep,

>Will you be offering wheel/rubber packages also?

Always, some wheels are noted as free mounting balancing when you get tires and wheels from us.
You can also call me for direct package pricing.

Hi Anthony,

>I am a sucker for the turbo 3.6 wheels in 18". How much and what widths and offsets for the GTS?

The BW Motorsports in 18" RDC should be in the sub-$3k range just as the normal 18s were before. We can get you any widths from 8" to 13", but recommend no larger than 9.5" fronts and 11" rears on a street 928.

Just so you can see the difference in the new BW and Kinesis wheels and to help understand the difference between a normal 18" and an 18" RDC...

Left is normal old style 18" BW and right is new 18" RDC style.

Ok DR, you started it...

>...and will probably be switching the 90 over to 19s also....

Soooo any chance that when you do switch your 90 over to 19s that those gorgeous K28's in Black Chrome that had their debut on your 90GT @ SITM would be available at a "discounted pre-owned" price?? I had to ask! Those wheels are heart stoppers in my book! Probably would require me to come up with TWO kidneys still then!

Do you have any info yet on what the pricing will be from Kinesis on that wheel in either the K27 or K28 when it does become available?? Similar to their current $100 per wheel for such upgraded finishes perhaps?

That K27 or K28 Black Chrome wheel is one Shark wish list item for me that Pamela told me to get!! Either that finish or paint to match when I repaint my White Gold 85. When you not only have the wife's okie dokie, but her suggestion to get something for your Shark, you gotta know thats one to move way up the list!!

Stranger things have happened :-) I am always willing to sell my "demo" wheel and tire sets at "discounted pre-owned prices"... That way I can continue to experiment with different fitments.
While I could sell the 19" setup on my Euro today without even discussing it, selling those black chrome wheels on "Jeannie's 90" will be a hard sell.. she loves those wheels,.BIG TIME!! If I can confirm that Kinesis will do another set for me in that finish then I could get away with it. As it stands now those are the first set ever and it is still being discussed if they will be doing any more like that. I sure hope so because it is an impressive finish, especially in person.

Dave, any reason why the BW rims have the valve stem in line with the bolt? I was told it was critical that the valve stem be out of line with these bolts for fatigue issues. As you can see the Speedline's have the valve stem offset or centered between the bolts.

I actually prefer the standard design myself. Is the BW rim less for non RTD design?

The way Kinesis does the valve stems is by putting the actual stem fitting near the center part of the inner wheel rim and then routing the tube and valve fitting thru one of the bolt holes (see photo)

The BW will only be available in 18s with the RDC design, the 19s will be the standard design, but with enough demand ( I have already given them my "demands" :-) the 19 will also be available in RDC style.

Last week I even cut n pasted to the best of my abilities that wheel from a pic of your 90GT & put it on my car. The size is probably a bit big, more like what a 20" would look like, but still... OMG, I LOVE that wheel!!

Surely Kinesis would have no problems selling it, seems anyone I heard who commented when they saw it was extremely positive! Guess I could "settle" for it in a painted to match White Gold finish if I must, but I will hold out hope. I have time of course.. to keep savin those Coke bottles or perhaps consider the kidney option!! Thinkin your Modular X-pipe will come first less an offer I couldnt refuse came my way with the wheels!

Ok... someone now want to explain to my client why their report is late cause I took time to fabricate that pic of my car, besides being on Rennlist! Well... it tis an addition I admit... I can see one day me attending the SA meetings... Sharks Anonymous!... oh yeah... I was just at my 1st one,.... SITM!! Cant wait for 06!!

FYI, just pickup another 19" Wheel set, this makes a total of 9 styles and this one is the least expensive set so far.

Moda R10 19" wheel set - 8" Front and 9" Rear - $1295!

Combine that with a set of 225/265-19 General Exclaim UHP Tires for $540 and this gets you a mounted and balanced 19" Wheel/Tire package for $1835!!!

Details are now on the website.

Ironically just after I made this post I got a call from Brad at BW Motorsports and the newly redesigned 3.6 Turbo 3-piece wheels in 18" Reverse Drop Center AND 19" sizes will start production runs in 3 weeks!
Okay, now were talking. I've been waiting for this day!
Time to start saving my pennies...oh, wait....the kids don't really need an education. Hmmm...priorities, priorities.
