Tha's right, $20 for a complet workshop manual (on CD or downloadable)
I just got one.....Here is a quick revue
- Table of content with links to subjects
- 2500+ pages in PDF format (my calculation)
- MAC/PC compatible
- Downloadable : 266MB zip / 386MB unziped
- Pages are of good quality 7/10
Now that I have invested $23cdn on a 928 manual, I have no choice but to buy an 928 to recoup that expenditure

Do a search in here forum archives for Jim Morehouse and you know where those originally come from. And yes, all CD versions are illegal copies of Porsche copyrighted material.
It's very good to get manuals before even thinking about buying 928.

Thanks for the info Vilhuer.
Did a search and read some of the threads. Apparently it is legal to sell these manual in the UK where I believe mine came from. I can't tell if the scans are a copy of Jim's CD, if not, then the site is legit and the copies are legal unless Jim as the world rights. Is Jim's CD in the same price range and Mac compatible? Anyway I tought the price was incredible, so I passed it on. Wish I knew about Jim's CD first....

Daniel,
If the WSM files you have contain a "table of contents w links" file then it's the version I did. Should be text searchable as well. I don't have any 'rights' and would be surprised if anyone else besides Porsche or the company they reportedly sold the rights to does. I've been charging a bit more than that but include the PET6 and you get it on CD (of course you could always burn one for yourself from the download).

Jim,
The info that you include is a LOT more than the manuals and PET...
There are volumes of additional tech info - changes by year, tech bulletins, etc., etc.

What follows is an excerpt from the read me file :
-------------------------------------------------------------
6.
File Structure:6. File Structure: main directory: 928 manual pdf
-files Table of contents w links
volumes 1 thru 7
index and log files (leave as is)
-subdirectories
928FWSM index directory w subdirectories...recommend you leave it as is
index ditto
wire diagrams ..contains wire diagram files, may be deleted as necessary for space
NOTES ON PET5:
although this may not be on your CD, if you do have it, note that you need to set your screen resolution to 1280x1024 to see all the navigation buttons.
Version 1.1 Changes
-fixed links in Table of contents w links for volumes 4 and 5 where the links specified "D:\..." instead of just the file. This impacted users who ran the CD from a drive other than D: or those who copied to a hard disk that was not the system D: drive (most users will have their hard drive as the C: drive)
UPDATING TO VERSION 1.1
The email update file contains new 'table of contents w links' and 'readme' files in a compressed format. If you receive an emailed update, save the file attached to the email in the folder on your hard drive where you have the "928 manual pdf" directory stored...best to save it to the "928 manual pdf" directory. This is a 'zip' (or compressed) file and in order to use it, you will need to unzip it. Open windows explorer and go to the directory where you saved the file, locate the file update.exe and double click on it. You will be prompted w what directory to save the file in. Use the "Browse" button to go to the directory where you saved the "928 manual pdf" directory and click ok. Then click 'unzip' to save the new file. You may be prompted to 'overwrite existing file(s)'...click OK. That should fix it.
A simpler way to do this if you have outlook express as your mail program is just to double-click on the attachment, then click 'open', You will be prompted w what directory to save the file in. Use the "Browse" button to go to the directory where you saved the "928 manual pdf" directory and click ok. Then click 'unzip' to save the new file. You may be prompted to 'overwrite existing file(s)'...click OK. I don't know if this works for all mail programs, thus the instructions in the paragraph above.
Let's hope you don't have to use this CD too often!
Happy motoring.

Is that from you? Then the $ I gave them should go to you!

Any detail that only you know about that I could verify to validate that it is your material?

Daniel,
Yep, that's the one I did. I don't own any copyright on the material, Porsche does. So I'm not in a position to get morally outraged about this guy's piracy. Yes, I did do a fair amount of work to make this text searchable and to make it user friendly, but the starting material was Porsche's. Sure I'm disappointed that this is happening and that the guy is likely a 928 owner but I don't have any recourse. Appreciate you're checking on this for me though. Thanks,
Jim
