Hey.
I think I have found a way in the middle: I loosened the 6 mounting bolts on the pressure plate, so, it won't be hard to unscrew them with the engine in the air, but if I have the pins, it will be easier to get the pins out in the air.

Last question: If I Have a blown gasket, will I see any visual damage when I remove the head?
And if I got cracked block, will the leak down test show it?

Thanks,

Klim

Klim, If you are still have diagnostic work to do ( compression ? and leakdown tests), isn't it easier to do all that prior to engine removal? - when you have a starter available to spin the engine. If only doing a leakdown, not as much an issue ....

Yeah, it is probably easier to do the compression test with the engine in the NORMAL car. But mine is not normal, with the block I plan to change the wiring harness, Becouse now I have K-Jet/L-Jet harness, and starter doesn't run. With the engine removal I want to clean it and paint it. I have a daily car, but I want to restore this one. Third, If I got coolant in the oil pan, it means that it is either a cracked block or a blown gasket. So, I think that the engine removal is a right thing to do due to all this wishes and facts.
I heard compression test is not htat informative and you can get a lot more info from leakdown test. So, that's what I am going to do.

So, now the questions which I asked before:
1)If I have a blown gasket, will I see any visual damage when I remove the head?
2)If I got a cracked block, will leakdown test show it?
3) How many people do I need to remove the engine(planning that i have the engine hoist). I will invite 2 guys, I think this should be enough.

Thanks for all advices and help,

Klim
