Thanks Mark,

Anyone know how they work and if they're known for going bad?

They rarely go bad. I think there is a section in the manuals that will tell you the ohm across the terminals at various temps.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the "temp II"?

Do they send signals to the computer? I'm curious about the "temp II" also...

Temp 2 is a dual sensor, one pin goes to the LH ECU, the other to the EZK ECU. The body of the sensor, is the common ground connection.

The resistances are in the manual, page 24-114 (and other places as well) At ambient temp each side to body should measure in the range 1400 ohms to 3600 ohms.

Resistance goes DOWN with rising temps in these sensors. IIRC as low as 200-300 ohms at full operating temp. If they fail high resistance (typical mode, open circuit), car will start cold, but get progressivley rich as it warms, and not be happy. The failed sensor can be bypassed in this mode when warm with ~300 OHM resistor.

I wonder if that's part of the reason for my strong fuel smell at idle??
