For what it’s worth😖. I had an intermittent failure in my cluster for years. Usual after a hard bump in the road. Came back to life most times after a restart but not always.
turns out the fault was the ribbon cable between the two boards. The cluster had never been separated, (factory seal still in place) so why the ribbon cable would fail? Who knows but it had a small crack in one of the ribbon wires. A company that fixes instruments for cars, airplanes etc., found it when they were testing it for me. They fixed the cable and secured it (strain relief) and it’s been perfect ever since. Simple thing but infuriatingly difficult to diagnose.
