I'm ordering up some parts to replace my worn Tie Rods. When I had her up on the lift the other day it looks like the rack is also a bit leaky. I haven't noticed any major problems with it, but wondered if I should do both at the same time, or just concentrate on the Tie Rods for now and go back in later when I have more time to replace the entire rack.
Thoughts?

Pull back the rubber boots on the tie rods and look for fluid. A little moisture is ok, but if you have fluid sloshing around in there that pours out when the boot is pulled back, your rack is leaking. Wear eye protection and old clothes when you do it.

Assuming I'll do the whole set at one time, are there any special parts that I need?
So far:
1. Tie Rods (set)
2. Reconditioned stearing rack
3. Replacement rubber boots
Any other minor parts I might need?

Two cotter pins.
The tie rods require large wrenches to do right. Vice-grips can be used.
Then you'll need an alignment. I like Courtney Truck Service in Eden Prarie.
