I was leaving the office in Hendon Va to go grab some lunch. I noticed a Corvette pulling up beside me to my left. It looked like 2002-2004 MY. I just glanced over as I like Corvettes too. He had a big smile on his face and was giving me a big thumbs up and pointing to the 928. I gave him a big in return!
I am sure this didn't need it's own thread so I am sorry, but it made me feel good and it's a BEAUTIFUL day outside and perfect for 928 driving!
Agreed. No matter what we drive, we enthusiasts are easily spotted
I pay a lot of attention to other cars on the road and you're right. Other "car people" are always looking back at you and waiving or giving a thumbs up at the same time you are. Non "car people" look at you like you have 3 heads if you're giving them a .
I was traveling down the 405 the other day when I heard a low rumble exhaust note and caught a glimpse or a blue car off the drivers side. It was a beautiful 68 Charger that looked factory fresh. Gave the guy a thumbs up and a "nice car". We all like some appreciation once in a while.
Oh, ask my neighbors how much they like the car enthusiast in me when I fire up the straight exhaust on the Goldmember at 6:30 AM! Man, I have never seen such dirty looks. Crybabies!
Since I bought my 928, many goons in other makes have gone out of their way to aggravate the enjoyment of my machine. Mustangs, ricers, weird modified trucks, etc. Mostly I ignore them. Then there are the ones that simply hang on my flank for miles without passing me presumably to get a look at the car; I increase speed, they increase speed; I decrease speed, they increse speed. Sheesh!! But one make of car doesn't seem to antagonize me or want to get into a beef about racing or who owns the road: Corvettes. It seems there must be mutual respect, or maybe mutual maturity present in the minds of Corvette drivers. They go their way and I go my way. Great idea and I wish some of the children who drive other brands would adopt such an attitude.
Last wekend, some jackass in a Monte Carlo or somethin was ridin' my bumper in jammed up traffic. A tap on the brakes didn't back him off, nor the one-finger salute - just got him riled up even more.
So I slowly reached over and opened the glove box and placed something on the passenger seat, after spending a few seconds checking it.
I find when I am NOT in the 928 (sadly most of the time), I need a sign to give 928's I meet that I DO have one, and am with them in spirit. Maybe a Shark badge....
