Default Fuel Computer update...'85-86 cars

Ok, well, my research is done for now. NONE of the Japanese-based fuel computers, even the brand new AFC-Select for European cars, will read MAF voltages exceeding 5 volts.

So, our cars cannot benefit from these unfortunately. I have two other backup ideas: custom chips (based on my past/present dyno charts & AF charts through AA, dyno-tested), and a cockpit-adj. fuel pressure regulator-type divice that will decrease voltage to your fuel pump to on an RPM scale...no allowance for increasing other than a higher regulator, but from most people's reports, that's not a major issue.

Thoughts??

Mark (Still at 282rwhp/275tq because of too much fuel)

I just bought an SMT-6 from Louie Ott. Don't know if it will do what you want, but it seems to be packed with features. i am using it for better fuel delivery on my boosted shark among other things.

I have used an SMT-6 to successfully maintain a near-linear AFR on my boosted shark.

These runs were done on a straight and level road. I put the car in 2nd gear at 3000rpms, then kept it WOT until i hit the rev limit. You'll notice that from 3K to the end, it is very linear. I have 3 runs listed. The first run was with NO help from the SMT6. It is a fine fuel curve for any boosted shark, but i'm a psychotic maniac and perfectionist who has to control everything possible.

Just a few weeks ago, someone posted the circuitry required to step down the voltage input into a computer such that source voltagaes above 5v from MAF would be sent within the computer's limited 0 - 5v range. Not sure this accuarately explains, but basically, it shrinks/rescales voltages from the MAF output so that voltages of 0 - 7v, for example, are reduced to 0 - 5v, so you get effectively an enhanced range.

If you are looking at re-doing the entire mappings, then you might want to check into this.
