I bet you guys didn't realize that it's IMPOSSIBLE to tint the rear 1/4 windows in the 928.

Find a new tinter!

I just had mine done and they turned out perfect! All 35% 'Desert Smoke' - used a single piece on each window and the back hatch - not a single seam or wrinkle.

$260.00 and done in one day.

Ahh the bar is so low ... I went to have straight pipes welded this week. First dude spent 30 mins of my time gloating then completely overcharged, and the second said "Maybe I can give you an estimate tomorrow" ... so I went and installed the exhaust from my spare car instead.

Good tinters normally charge between $150 and $200 for the job......you may find one for less, but remember you want good film and a good installer, neither are cheap. Stay away from the $69 special guys, you'll have either purple or peeling tint in few years. Good luck....

I'm getting mine done next week. $170 for everything.

MikeN, where are you located? Gotta remember Randy's in Caifornia. Basically $GA X 1.7 = $CA

Brian...........I had my car tinted in Calgary................done a great job, rear window is 1 piece and the rear quarters, drivers and passenger windows done to perfection. That was approx 3 yrs ago......still looking great.

Auto tint I think..............if you can't find them let me know and I'll research the files.

Speaking of tint you gotta hear this. Got a fix it ticket for no front plate. I got it fixed so I went to the CHP office to get it signed off and the the cop sees my windows down and asks if I have tinted windows and I said yeah. The ****er then says " I can either sign this one off now and give you another ticket for the tint or you can go and remove the tint and come back and then I sign this one off". I stood there a second wondering if he was serious and then realizing he was I told him " I want it signed off now. If I have to come back either way then I'm going to make you work for it". I had to have that signed off now because that was the only time off work I could get. You know, that is a real *******. This is the first year that I stopped donating to the policemans fund for bullet proof vests and death program. I'm never donating again. They have gotten way to pricky for me. Before at least a few were cool. A shame because my best friend is a cop. That is so rediculous.

I was coming back from Oxford, MS last week on the four lane, when a MHP car turned around about 400 yards in front of us. We were all doing the speed limit as it was close to 4:30 pm. He rides behind us, a group of five cars, for about 3 miles. He gets behind me and rides for another 2 miles and then turns on his lights. I pull over at an off ramp. I roll down the window and he comes up and says could I roll the window up a little. I do, he checks it, walks around the car, comes back and says, "you don't have a tint inspection sticker". I said the windows was were tinted in FLA in '89 to legal and didn't need a sticker, besides there is no way to get a car inspection sticker if the windows were not legal, as they check it every year. Then he wanted to see DL and proof of insurance. I didn't have my proof of insurance with me. I have just finished restoring the inside and didn't put it back in. He tells me MS passed a law in '95 that you have to have a tint sticker now. Said I was sorry never knew or seen one before on any tinted car. Tells me to go by a MHP station and they will put one on for me. Gave me a ticket for no proof of ins. I can go show the judge and not pay a fine, no biggy. Then he wants to look at my car. Spent about 15 mins. talking and showing him the car. Said he loved it and the big engine up front looked great. I told him he didn't have to give me a ticket if all he wanted to do was to look at my car. I would have been happy to show him everything. Got kind-o-pissed at me that I busted him on it. I guess he thought I was going to start some trouble. He told me to have a nice day and left. A-Hole. I have had other cops pull me over for nothing just to look at the car. I love to show them.

FWIW: I recently did a little research into window tinting. Metallic window tints will negatively affect the effectiveness of radar detectors.
I was preparing to have my windows tinted and discovered this info:
Tint can reduce radar by 95%
Then discovered that most tints now use metallized layers. The tints that are dyed only, will last five years before they start to bubble and peel.
I would like to get tinted...I like the effectiveness of my V1 more.
If anyone has had first hand experience that is contrary to the info I have found, please advise.
