Has anyone replaced their seal with anything other than the Porsche seal? My left door seal just tore and it leaks with high pressure water I seen them for $175 but sure would like to find a cheaper suitable substitute.

Nope, check out all the online places, sometimes you get lucky but Porsche seals are known to be exepsnive out there, ask any body shop. The 928 is not singled out here for a change ... not that that helps you.

There is a place in the UK but with the current weak $$ its no deal right now.

I replaced all the seals on my 80 last year. After many hours of research and trying to find aftermarket seals or something else cheaper, I ended up getting the factory seals from 928Intl.com and Vertexauto.com.
I noticed that window seals for all makes and models are not inexpensive.
