Default SITM Caravan Thread (Please Stick)

Going from the Wash. DC area an plan on being at MM 1 on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a 9:30 - 10:00 start. The best way to enjoy a 928 on the way.

Anyone else?

Depends on the weather. Last year I drove the whole way to GF Mt. from Mile 1 in the rain and fog and i only remember how trecherous is was.

If the weather is nice, i'll be there. If not, im taking the interstate.

JE;

We have a new Shark owner that would like to meet up for the caravan down to SITM. His name is John (from Md) and he will be in a very sweet Guards red 85 auto. He's only had the car for a few days and is anxious to talk shop. I'll forward this link.
Haven't heard from Kempf whether he will be joining me for a Deals Gap run Friday or not. So we may be a no-show at MM1 Friday morning.

I'll be there! There's a Motel 8 in Waynesboro just before the start of BRP that is a good place to pit for the night. Their phone # is 540-943-3888
You guys hauled *** in the wet last year, hope it's dry this time.

JFK on the email list posted he's been a busy elf trying to
get his silver bullet ready for the warp ride down.

Won't JFK's participation mean he'll be brunging the precipitation.

Ernest (NYC)
Will I need to brung my rain gear.
Got a nice 7 hour shower at my first 928 (Lime Rock PCA race) event this year.
It did stop raining during lunchtime at the Customer Ride and Drive.
Pics at http://www.928racing.net/ under 'Photos' in the Lime Rock 2005 link if
you haven't seen them already.

Shhhhhhh on the weather.

My first run on the BRP back from SITM #1, Kempf was thrashing it in fog. (insert smiley crapping his pants) We've done the BRP with Kempf several times since without rain though.......but it does tend to follow him.

Doc,

Not sure if I will be doing deals gap or not. I'll be driving the patched together S4.

Not sure if I can make that. But I'll see you for cocktails on Friday. I'll sponsor your first drink.

Usually it's leave the DC area about 6:30 - 7:00AM and drive out US 66 to Rt 81 south to Rt 631 east (just past Staunton) to the BRP. There is a an old closed hotel where the Skyline Drive Ends and Blue Ridge Parkway begins. We meet there around 9:00 - 9:30AM for a 10:00 start.

That's the usual itinerary.

That's the plan. I got Kempf back up after SITM #1 in time for a similar Flight out of DC for Work situation that you have (he was connecting through DC anyway after flying into Charlotte, so he missed a return leg). We did a good portion of the BRP in the rain and fog (though not a suggested way to travel it) and still got back around 7ish as I recall. It takes about 7 to 8 hours to return via 81, more with the BRP.

That was two years ago. I'm sure we are out of the system by now.

Is it Barney's or "shaaark's" turn?
