funny, that there is a 50/50 split on the issue. Really, if you had a chance to put on 315s vs 255s, the only place the limited slip helps (well there are some other subtle differences on turn in too), is on an exit of a relatively tight turn . otherwise, the bigger wheels and tires help, braking, straightline acceleration, cornering, etc. I think they both are nessesary for racing, but if you were stuck with 255s on the rear, LSD would make the car more enjoyable. if you are stuck with an open diff, 315s make the car more enjoyable.

Not that Derek is going to be tracking like crazy at the limit, but an LSD helps a whole lot on trail braking/turn-in as well as or more than the corner exit. Locking up the inner rear is a pretty big issue with an open diff at racing speeds while trail braking. Unfortunately, I'll have to live without one on my track car for this summer, but I'll probably put one in over the winter.

No, not just yet, Red. She's still my daily driver.
I DO have a G-Tech however, and plan on having some fun practicing my 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. I think I will soon have some 315's to toy with

That's what I would do in your situation. Who can argue with the cool factor of 315's?

Derek
With your kind of HP.....bigger is always better....if you really want some accelerating traction try the BFG drag racing tires....don't last very long but all the drag racers love them!

Mark, I agree...the 315's should look VERY cool.

Brian, Thanks for the tip. Though, like Tony, I'm going to try and see how well I can do with a "street confirguration" first. I want to be able to duplicate my results...wherever.

Tony, Thanks for chiming in. It's those damn posts of yours that have got me fired up I'd love to get a mid to low 4 sec 0-60 and low 12 sec 1/4 mile. The wheels I've chosen are Mr. KIbort's Kinesis. If they fit on his car, they ought to fit on mine. I'll let you know how it goes. Keep posting those times, Ton.

Derek,

Congrats on the new wheels! Sounds like you must have the bugs worked out on your Beast.

Enjoy!

Hi Jim,
Still a couple of bugs. Going to meet Mike with his tuning kit and dyno on Monday. Hopefully get my mixture dialed-in. I've fouled two sets of plugs already. Also, the aux fan and idle are still issues.

Which plugs are fouling? all or just a few?
What fuel pressure are you runing with the 30# on and off boost?

Derek I had to go back to my stock 24# injectors to lean my car down to where it wasn't fouling plugs.

Yeah, all the plugs were fouled on the last set. As far as fuel pressure...we'll see on Monday. This will be the first real opportunity I've had to dyno and tune since install. Thank you Mike

I appreciate you telling me what you've done, Shane. Since you've already "been there done that" with effectively the same set-up I have, I value your input.

How about you, Tony, which size injectors are you running now?

24# and they work fine for what i do, but they are pretty much at their limit i think. The 30#s are going in this fall when i pull it all apart for a going through again. If things go as i hope, i will need the 30#s anyway by then.

if its going ANYWHERE near lean, back off the throttle and readjust...do it agin.
Mike will get you squared away Im sure.

I know definitively for me, with no LSD cornering is much better, but straight line, LSD can show bigger tyres the way ...... I'm a road driver, not a racer. LSD loses traction in corners especially on autos, when they kick down or shift. Not a good thing. But on a 5spd the LSD puts the power down no matter what. Without, my auto loses traction all the time on one wheel. No matter the tyre. Remembr all the power goes to one wheel.
