Default Dash temp sensor cap

Does anyone know if the plastic temp sensor cap that sits on the dash can be easily removed and replaced? My temp sensor works fine, but the cover is chewed up a little and I don't want to start prying at it unless that's how it comes off.

The cap/sensor is all one part.......and has to be gotten at from behind......you cannot pry it out from the front if it has never been replaced before. I say this due to the fact that the factory actually "tie-wrapped" the sensor in there from behind.....not pretty, but did the job. If someone has replaced it in the past they may have not tie wrapped back......but not likely. The cost for a new sensor/cap is around $70 the last time I checked.....

Jager Engineering has a nice alternative to replacement......and others have come up with them to.

Ouch. that's what I was afraid of. I won't consider any non-OEM solutions. Thanks.

It might be easier to remove the center console completely, but you should gain access to replacing it by only removing the Climate Control Units and Stereo.

I think there's still a used OEM dash temp sensor cap for sale on eBay.
