Default 77 Update w/pics

with everything going on I realized I haven't given any updates on the 77 in a bit.. SITM is approaching and I've been humping it to get things done
today was awesome and I got to take her out for a leg stretching and some primping...
recent work:
swapped out phone dials for chrome S wheels and Z rated tires
cleaned A LOT!!
door panels are basically done, interior is really shaping up nice, the ongoing switch to all leather is going slower than I had hoped but short of buying new pieces at lots of $$$ I'm refurbing/fabricating the pieces myself
she also got to spend some time with a friend's shark and show off for folks

See everyone is a couple weeks

the seats were originally brown/op art, the bottoms and the upper center sections were replaced and the remaining seat dyed black.. all prior to my purchase,
the front seats, headliner and pod are all that remain of the interior from when I got her, everything else is being swapped.. the seats are really comfy but will be replaced as soon as I find a set of black/op arts to put in

The pod isn't original is it? (Vertical gauges.) Also the 'Central Informer' panel is later?

S-spoilers are bad enough on a pre-80, but a wiper rear spoiler in a non-wiper car, sheesh!

the S package was installed prior to coming to the US in about '81.. it will get removed when I take the car apart to be painted
the pod and cluster are same as when it arrived in the US, a local 928 mech has known this car since it was brought here by a returning serviceman
it was red and painted military green after arrival, then painted the current Plum/Black Cherry

If I won the lottery tomorrow for $10M I'd buy your car or Chuck Z's and bring it right back to original condition. Sight unseen!

Then I'd supercharge my M28, after figuring out how to bring the compression to 8.5/1 or below, and make about 600 horsepower. I'd watch y'all make idiots of yourselves, burning your pistonsinto expensive lofts in downtown Ann Arbor, since it is basically impossible.

But thats me! Burn away/ buy me a burrito at Taco Belll!

N!

Great look'n old boys.

I wish Porsche would donate 8 inch H4s to all '86 and older 928 owners. It would do a lot to bring up 928s to what they were intended to look like.

Almost all early cars I have seen ride much higher than S and later. Difference could be non adjustable front suspension. In rixter's case front is too high even for '78 model though.

she does ride HIGH.. all original suspension, only recourse is new springs (summer work will include new Club Sport springs on front)... she just spent almost 2 weeks on and off jack stands so it'll settle a bit but not much more

Normy... find me a full brown op art interior and I'll put this girl back exactly as she was intended, otherwise I have no alternative

Hey Rixter - I am assuming that color is not factory? Any idea what color it is? It looks very similar to the paint on my 88 - I'm trying to figure out if it is a Porsche color at all or if one of the PO's just went for their favorite color. Original color on mine was Espresso Brown...

Looking very nice though!

Bill

Bill,
best I can gather is that it's a 944 color from the mid 80's (was originally India Red)
I've seen 2 other sharks resprayed in the same color
it's not what I would pick personally, but it grows on you and does get attention
