Here are the pictures:
http://www.erik27.org/78928
The good:
1. Custom phone dials - 10" wide on the rear, not sure on the front yet.
2. S4 Calipers & rotors - no adaptors, custom spindles
3. Custom roll bar
4. MSDS Headers
5. Adjustable muffler - go from almost stock quiet to 100% straight through from the headers via cockpit adjustable cable.
6. Larger sway bars
7. S brake ducts
8. Only 65,000 miles
9. LSD - 5-speed
The bad:
1. Interior needs a lot of work (red inserts on the door for example)
This won't be a big deal, will probably gut what's left anyway.
2. OMP Racing shell is worn out - Looking at Recaro Pole Positions
3. 4-point harnesses are 10 years old - any suggestions on 6-points (brand, style etc...)?
4. Paint missing on front fenders due to incorrectly sized tires.
5. Half a front spoiler to hold factory brake ducts.
6. Last owner had this bright idea to put the car back to stock. He took off the headlight covers to re-install the headlights. That's where the sticky goo came from around the headlights.
Overall it's a great find. John Menard (of Menard's hardware store) bought the car new in 1979. I've known about the car for about 10 years. My mechanic, Jim Page of Page Auto, owned the car for a number of years into the early 90's. I have been playing with the idea of either turning my brown 928 into a track car or buying a "fixer upper" for that purpose. This car is a pair of racing seats and 6-points away - work is already done. I can't wait for the next track weekend.

Hacker, are you going to be able to run it this weekend at Road America with PCA Milwaukee?
And congrats to you on your new acquisition!

Yeah... I was really sad to get rid of my phone dials to get wider wheels.
I would have loved to find wide phone dials...
It's awesome that it already has the cage, good wheels, stripped interior, low miles, etc...
It should be a nicely balanced track car.

UPDATE on the car:
I left out one small piece of detail about the car - it doesn't run. It did last year, owner put it in storage - this spring, would not fire. Jim Page was 99.9% sure it was the ignition modual - aftermarket unit. The previous owner put in a new coil - tried to diagnose it.
Just got a call from Jim - after he put the ignition unit on from my 81 - wired the coil back to stock (aftermarket unit used a different coil setup) - and put the plug wires on in the correct order - she fired right up. So after work I actually get to drive my car.
So know I need another Bosch Ignition Control Box. Anyone have one lying around?
Sweanders - those tires are coming off. Jim said 1st gear is useless they are so sh*tty.
Lag - so far it's looking good that I will be there with the car
Nicole - don't worry, DE weekends beer is cut waay back, we are only allowed one breu between sessions.
Jim - The dye job on those inserts is horrible - need to find some black one's.

I'll give you another example - Chuck Z's 78 with 1,300 miles goes to 170mph. I doubt that speedo was replaced.
