Were one to get into this game ( of locating well maintained, cost no object 928's), one starting point would be to share some time with the Service Managers of Porsche dealerships - and Sales Managers of multiple exotic marques. This brings notice of potential trades to you - otherwise, one may have to go hunting through golf club memberships, etc.. This exposes one to the hardships of playing a reasonable round of golf and social drinking. I doubt many leads come from the down home weekly 'Buy & Sell' ads.

Pretty, but I think they've both been listed before. Seems like the white one was just listed a few weeks ago. Curious that the starting bid on it is so much higher than the black one. The mileage is about the same - is a '95 worth that much more than a '94? I'd rather have the black one anyway. Course I'd also rather have a 5-speed...

He's using the same pictures for the new auction - that's why I recognized it.

Oh-oh! Another Willhoit bashing thread about to start? I know there are a few on this list who have very strong feelings about what he does but imagine where resale values might be if he didn't take such a keen interest in them. I think all you need do is look at where resale values are on 1995 993's.

He sells more GTS's than anyone I know of and values on these cars have remained high or higher on nice low mileage GTS's due in large part to his business. Like it or not, he is in business to make money and happens to really love the 928. In most cases, the cars he resells could be bought for the same money he pays for them by anyone who happens to be looking as they are usually advertised in popular venues (except for the 94 GTS).

This pictures in his auction are the same setting as most of the cars on his web site and appear to be taken at his home?

That would be my guess as well.

Now that I look again, they aren't the same pictures as the previous auction for that same car after all. I must be remembering the pictures of another car in the same setting. At least I think it was another car???

Especially if you can turn a hefty profit in the process - and no, I don't have a problem with that.

Same place anyone else can get them......the black one came from Ebay a while back......he's been sitting on it a pretty long time now. The other one was off of cars.com or traderonline.com.........the owner was asking over $70k for it until someone opened his eyes.

Do I have a problem with him making a hefty profit for simply turning these cars over in a few days?.......hell no, more power to him, but as I have always said before........he gets them from ordinary places that are available to everyone. If a buyer wants to simply fork over $5k - $8k to him for looking on Ebay for these cars........fine, me I'd rather keep that $$$ in my pocket.

By the way, the white one is on his site for $66,500......

Nice $11k profit for him if some rube falls for it, but hey, he may need a bigger house now! C'mon guys, someone help the poor guy out!

It's a very nice '87, 51K miles, but otherwise not notable. This auction has ended at $14,350, res not met. He bought from Schmitt. He mentions an appraisal of $26K replacement value, doesn't mean that is any indication of its value or his reserve, but betw that and what he paid Schmitt, IMHO, he may be way off, but there you are, he set a market 2 yrs ago for that car; remains to be seen what it is worth today; as Jim says the market is very thin; that's why we love auctions.

There is a fair amount of risk with flipping 928's.
You buy a car for $55k and now you need to sell it for more then that. In the meanwhile you need to fix (or hide ) what isn't perfect & market it. I'd bet that 20% of the buys ends in some sort of loss. The upside you drive a lot of GTS's.
