Question RDK and new rims

I have 17" rims in mind for my shark in the distant future and was wondering. How can I buy 17" rims which may be after market rims and still have my RDK (tire preasure system) operate? Isn't the system dependent on the RDK sensors located inside the rims? Do you loose this function if you go with after market rims? If I purchased GTS rims would they have RDK capabilities?

Most of the systems i have seen the sensor is part of the valve stem mechanism and interchangeable or a sensor that is strapped on to the inner ring of the rim.. You would need to dismount one tire to see where thay are loacted . should be interchangeable.

You will not be able to have functional RDK with any wheel other than the GTS 1993 cup wheel (c-2 style) FACTORY wheels. Porsche did not use a simple system and the wheels each have two precisely machined and located holes for the approx 1 1/2 Inch dimeter "sending units" in each wheel. A magnetic pickup measures the location of a metal disc inside the sending unit. Everyone with custom wheels simply bypasses the RDK warning system.

I've been looking into ways of making RDK work with aftermarket rims. There are several products on the market nowdays what do similar measurements and more. All it would take is to integrate such system with RDK's display side leaving factory wheel sensors out of equation. This is of course easier said than done but it should be doable. So far all aftermarket systems I have found have some limitations. By the time I have car back on the road I expect them to exceed what it can do. One good canditate is RoadSnoop Pressure Watch. It's current versions most critical problem is 250 kmh max speed.
