PSD in GT
I have used the method described on Jim's CD twice to bleed the PSD with success. When bleeding the slave cylinder I monitor the PSD reservoir so as not to run it dry, as a matter of fact I maintain the level between the max and min values whilst bleeding to ensure this.
If you follow the instructions of the OC and the method on Jim's CD (which are very similar) you should have no problems.
Care should be taken when fitting the 'jumper' into the relay female spade connector in the trunk that the right connectors are selected, so you don't fry the brain, (Wally's method of making a the jumper fitted with a two pole switch is a good safety device when the swithc is 'off' during connection as the connection can be verified before switching 'on') and if the connections made from the pump power supply are fitted with male and female fittings of the solenoid connector and a two pole switch is fitted into the positive wire circuit you would have a very good DIY system.

What year do you think the GT is? I ask this because the 89MY does not have PSD, instead it has the mechanical 40% LSD. The 8th digit in the VIN number is the model year, K is for 89 and so on. GTs were made from 89 to 92. The 89 and later cars all have the digital dash with computer and warning system.

I wouldn't totally rule out possibility of '89 GT having PSD. That is if it's Euro like in this case I think it is. PSD might have been option in ROW cars already at '89 model year. We have one such S4 automatic in Finland where owner swears it has fully functioning PSD and I know for sure car is '89 model. I highly doubt anyone would have afterwards installed all is needed to make it work. Unfortunately option sticker is long gone so there is probably no way of knowing truth in this case. Hope to see it in 11. of June gathering in Lempäälä for closer look anyway. Also Dutch meeting in few weeks could help solve this issue as there are about dozen cars present that might have K VIN and 221 option code.

Hi Dave C,
I was hoping to do some investigations with a PSD equipped car last weekend, but I wasn't well. However, I have located a "spare" ABS/PSD ECU, and I will be able to investigate this further in the near future. I intend to check out how the solenoid valve is driven from the ECU, and also whether the "hammer" pulses the valve rather than continuously powers it.
I've also compared the two procedures - Jim's CD and the 928 OC one. Thanks to the excellent pictures on the OC version, it is easy to identify the connector type used on the solenoid valve.
In view of the succes of these DIY methods, I may not develop a "bleed box" but when I have finished my investigataions I may be able to recommend slight enhancements to the DIY procedures
