I called in an order for them to 928 Int'l and they said not to use them as the car will idle rough. They said to buy the regular Bosch plugs designed for the car. Anyone using the +4's have problems?

I had them in my car prior to the SC install for about 2,000 miles without any issues. The car idled and drove well. I think I still have them in the box of spare parts in the garage.

I have been using the +4 plugs for four years without any issues to speak of. I just replaced them with another set last week when I completed my timing belt job.

I installed the +4s in my '85S and it idled rough...changed back to stock and problem fixed. Odd. I think the 968 comes stock with +4s but I want to get away from them. Iridium was recommended.

I have gotten the best performance out of my cars by using the stock bosch copper plugs. I tried the +4's and although the car ran ok it does better on the coppers. Use the stock gap also at .28 to ,32.

I have the Bosch Platinum+2 in all of our cars and love them.
The only real difference between all of the Bosch Platinum products is longevity. The more electrodes, the longer they last. There's no "real" change in spark from one to the other (unlike split-fires where there are matched pairs of electrodes and more spark, these have one internal with 2-4 external with same spark) so don't expect better performance from +4 vs the other Platinums. The only thing that will affect performance will be the metal difference between the Platinums and the regular Copper that were original in the 928. They last longer because there are 2-4 external electrodes to "catch" the spark so it takes less energy to make the connection. Less energy=lower heat inside and longer life.
The great thing about the +2 and +4 is you don't have to gap them. I'll pay the extra for the +2 to save the time/pain of gapping. Since the +4 electrodes last way longer than the replacement rate I won't pay the extra price for them. It's more of a pain to have to remove them and get the carbon off halfway through their life than it is to just put a new set of +2 plugs in for a little more than half the cost.

The +4 were standard in the Boxster so I'm assuming you're talking about the 928 fouling them easily.
If it's just the 928 that fouls the Platinums easily, does anyone know what the cause would be? I'm interested in knowing how all of this stuff works so I'd love to know what would cause one metal to foul vs another.

John, I reread all the threads I could fine on the subject of standard plugs vs +4 and others. I came to the conclusion that other plugs work in some 928s and not in others. No reason was givin why. So I just put the Bosch by in, no problems, runs great. If anybody truely knows it would be great to find out.

I've used them. If you live anywhere where it can get below freezing in the winter time DON'T USE THEM. After about 10k miles the car won't start on cold mornings. Guaranteed!
