I finally got around to it... Below are a few pic's of the old one, do they look normal? Also, do I really need to solder the splices? My skills are a little less than good
Can I just twist tie and heat shrink them?
Thanks...

You could get away with solder/repair... but for the relatively low price of these things, just get a new one. They're bound to fail sooner or later. You can purchase the universal version which is much cheaper and just splice/solder the wires in.

YES! You need to solder! A good connection is important.
I just replaced the one in my 951 - it didn't look NEARLY as bad as yours does (but - appearance has nothing to do with how well it works!). Mine was tired...QUITE a difference - the 'dithering' in my ARM-1 (A/F mixture gauge) is about 2-3x faster now.

Mark is right!! Solder the black lead for sure! The output from that sensor is "mirco-volts", so any hint of a connectivity issue is going to throw things off.

I replaced it due to a strong fuel smell at at idle in the garage, no smoke. Also the gas mileage seems to be fading. I bought a universal and cut and spliced it in.
