Thumbs down Best mate chooses wife over 928 in distress!!

I'm on my way to work when a small consistent clunk clunk starts from rear wheel, this gets louder and the distinctive driveshaft clunk clunk fix me NOW!! plea wails even at 10mph- horror stricken I'm in unknown waters- do I hit the hazard warning lights and announce to the world that my PORSCHE is not well, or limp on hoping that people will instead mistake my slow progress as yet another poser in his PORSCHE!, (the clunk clunk being a sign of my manlyhood as I hit the potholes of Bonnie Edinburgh!)
I know thinks me-I'll call Jim who has just completed an extension to his house with a huge new garage with inspection hole and two spare driveshafts sitting in the corner!
Yes he says, we'll have it sorted in under two hours- just limp (pose) all the way to my house 20 miles and your troubles are over! SORTED!!
So halfway there the mobile rings,it's Jim, change of plans he says- the heavily pregnant misses has started her contractions only 5 minutes apart!
So whats's her problem?, she's been there done that twice already- I've never changed a drivshaft!!, park the car up says Jim we'll sort it later!!!
EXCUSE ME- I know for a fact he has plenty of cable ties, one heavy duty tie around her knees and we have hours to change the driveshaft, and with such a long inspection pit we could have my baby on one end and her on the other,
both ready for delivery, two hours to fix the car, snip the cable tie, a wee scoot of WD40 near the big end and TOUCHDOWN!
Now this all happened at 7.30pm, she delivered 4hours later, Yes 4 hours later, plenty of time to fix my car, but instead he chose her, so do I forgive him for choosing his wife and third baby over a 928 in distress?
Vote yes or no, would you have fixed my baby in the same circumstances or is our friendship over/ (bearing in mind he has the spare driveshafts!)

Sorry Algie...two hours working on the shark or a lifetime of "I can't believe you did that to me! Do you remember when...., etc.".

Tell him he owes you a few beers and you're even, otherwise what will you do the next time you need a place to nurse the shark?

Before I vote, one question: Is your buddy hoping to some day have sex with you? If not, the answer is clear . . .

You two 'Mates', in your haste, left too many unexplored alternatives on the table to merit a vote - period!
Since you are apparently near useless in changing driveshafts - and it is generally accepted that husbands are worse than useless at delivery time, why did you not consider swapping roles???? A true mate would have driven the missus to the oby/gyn, midwife, hospital, .... - and picked up a fifth of good 17 year old malt on the way back. In the meantime, hubby would have actually been productive and had the half shaft changed on your return. After a dram or two, motor off to the hospital debating names for the new little squaller - for whom you would be anointed Godfather
No, the whole process was too inefficient ....

I choose the wife because it would take a whole lot of gas to keep it running long enough to keep me warm at night. Besides the shark will never make me dinner. If I dont fix the shark right now it will still be there tomorrow, the wife wouldnt be.

You've managed to describe one of the ultra-few things in life that take priority to me, over my Porsches. My child. And I can speak from only my own experience, but driving any Porsche as compared to being there and hearing my little one's first cries, means absolutely nothing. I would not trade that experience if I had to swear off Porsches forever and drive a f@cking Subaru the rest of my life.

I agree with Heinrich and Tres. I love my shark dearly but wifey comes first in this case.

Yeah, I didn't vote either...............But Having owned Gretch for 15 years, I am pretty sure my bride will hold a grudge considerably longer than my shark will. And you won't have to apologize to the shark for the REST OF YOUR LIFE........just fix it and all is ok.

After seeing that how could you pick the shark over such a cute bundle of joy. I agree with Heinrich my children come first. And the wife would never forgive me if I did that.

That too funny because I was late to one of my bestfriend's wedding because I was working on my Porsche.
