That is so sad. I'm so sorry to hear about this. That f*cking kid should be responsible for this! Stupid people should not breed!!! Unfortunately there is no law in CA that would hold someone like that responsible for an accident such as this. Thank God you and your girlfriend are ok.

Glad you're ok.

Like Andrew, a similar thing happened to me when I was in law school (about 10 years ago). I was driving on a 2 lane road with a posted limited of 35, and traveling at the limit. Three 13 yr old girls walking along the road (it was busy in both directions) decided to suddenly dart between cars and try to cross the road, mid-way between two intersections with crosswalks...i.e., they were too lazy to walk the 500 feet to cross safely at the intersection.

Anyway, I slammed on the brakes in my wonderful Ford Escort, screeching the tires and making the nose of the car dive down. Not even time to turn. I managed to hit all three of them and one smacked my windshield hard enough to crack it. I immediately stopped the car to see if they were badly hurt and to figure out what the hell happened.

The three girls took off running, but other people walking down the road saw what they did and grabbed them and brought them back so they couldn't leave. Police and ambulance were called, and the cops gave the ticket to the girls for jay-walking.

Of course, several months later I received a letter from an attorney notifying me of his intent to sue on the girls' behalf. Because I'm a realist (pessimist?) I figured this was a possibility, so I had gone back to the scene the day after at the same time and had taken 20 or so pictures of the scene, skid marks, and the distance to the nearest point where they could cross safely if they weren't lazy. I sent all the pictures, the letter and my own research about recent Ohio court cases on the matter to my insurer. The insurance company asked me if I wanted a job and flatly told the attorney to go to hell. End of story.

Anyway, I hope everything turns out ok.

Just got back from lunch Mike, this is the first post I read. I am sooo glad you're ok! The car can be replaced.
I can't tell you how impressed I was with you at the SC install, they just don't make young men like you anymore.
I'm feeling sick about your car but like I said, at least no one was hurt.

This car served a long and admirable career that included acheiving 344rwhp with over 240Kmi, and winning an endless number of stoplight and freeway matches against the likes of Ferrari, Carrera, and the quicker American pony cars. It did it long. It did it hard. It did it fast. It did it with style. This car never gave up and it's accomplishments reflect it. It chose to take it's own life instead of that of a stupid teenager. It died doing what many cars have only dreamed of, just cruising along on PCH. It went in peace and dosen't owe the 928 community a thing. With it's last breath it wispered "Dr Ferdinand be willing, may my parts continue to serve as truely and squarely as I strived to live."
RIP Friend RIP
In it's will it asked for a New Orleans style funeral. So raise a toast to a life well lived.

Is it too soon to ask about parts?
No it's not too soon. Mike, his girlfriend and the kid are ok.
Mike needs the $$$ to get into a new 928 ASAP. He has a BMW too but it's not a 928. When sending your offers please consider that Mike is a 20 yo living on his own in LA area where the cost of living is an average of 150% of the rest of the US. So be generous. All the help he has given to me, my guys and everyone else has been absoutely free. If I kept a log I am sure it would be over 500HRS at no charge. If he can't get together the funds to get another 928 soon the community will be at a loss. I believe he is planning on keeping the front seats, transmission, possibly the engine and carpet.
He will need a day or two to recover so don't be surprised if you PM him and don't hear from him for a few days.
He will be selling the SC. He is going to send it to me and I am going to check it out, bring it up to current specs and then ship it to the buyer. Pretty much all the SC parts besides the SC, Manifold, Inlet, and Bypass Valve, will be new. It will be sold as a 85-86 Stage 2 setup.

Even though thats a real shame, one thing I can say about 928's is they have to be one of the safest cars on the road. Everything just collapes up to the engine, and since it has a torque tube you dont have to worry about an engine landing in your lap.

I looked at a car a while back a kid was driving doing about 50 and hit a tree with no belt and was not hurt. The front of that car looked a lot like yours.

Holy ****, Mike!

Good thing you were both wearing your seat belts!

Friggen punk-*** kid - very fortunate the C4 driver stopped as a third-party witness.

Can they reinstall the bell?

Ok, PM box is clean.

I do not have the H4 lights, sorry about that.

Yes, I believe all of the brakes are GOOD, and at least 1/2 of the suspension is GOOD.

I had an RMB on there as well.
