Does anybody have pics of Mike Schmidt's integrated gauges? He put the displays into the existing instruments, and it looks as professional as if the car had come that way.

i just took these. HTH

Top to bottom
Boost...Fuel Presure..water temp. Im changing this to AFR...Boost and fuel pressure once i get the XD-1

Under the pod in the parcel tray..left to right...Tranny temp..oil temp. Ill be adding the water temp, from the pillar, down there as well. Not the easiest to see but they arent as time crictical as AFR or fuel pressure. A quick glance through the spokw in the steering wheel and i can see what i need to know.

All the wiring is routed in a black sheath to the parcel tray where it enters. Behind the "fake front" on the parcel tray i have the wiring set up for all my gauges.
I went with the autometer "z" series as the were the closest to stock in appearance...white numbers...black face..orange needle. From the typical vantage point they all match the stuff in the pod I think.

In these shots the pillar pod is just pushed in...nothing holding it except an interference fit. I could have placed a small screw (that Carl supplies IIRC) and had a "firmer" fit, but after 1500 miles on it so far, no issues what so ever. I can pull it out in a sec and get to any wiring behind it.
An idea if you do have the ARM 1 is to make a round face plate and mount the lights in it, then mount the assembley in the pillar pod. IIRC from my initial measurements it should fit?
Cant wait to see your dyno and perf numbers Seth Sounds like Jims GT is a monster!

Wow, that dash install is WAAAY trick.

Tony, thanks a bunch for those pics. Now I need to think about what I do long term. Ashtray for now for temporary, then decide on the permanent install.

Thanks!

Thanks, Chuck! I think what mike did here is totally awesome work - so professional, it could be a production option.

Now, my personal problem here would be that I'd like to be rich, but I still want to be somewhat lean. Why does life always have to be a compromise?

Jim,
Very nice job - looks very professional. Love the angled installation and nicely rounded trim.

Not sure of the readability of the location - but this is the most professional looking install I've seen for aftermarket gauges in the console.

Now similarly Mike's has got to be the best pod installation I've ever seen - looks a like a SS mod to all the gauges - not sure I like that so much - but fit & finish can't be beat! and assume it could be done for a stock look also.

Wow you guys are good! My kind of mods - end up looking like they've always been there.

Alan

Tell us more about those nets you have mounted on your doors, please. That's a neat idea for the airbag cars that lack the under-dash trays.

Yeah, I was wondering about those nets too. They look "stock." Never seen them before.

Also, you pod is super ncie. I need to learn about laying fiberglass. What did you use to make the form for the fiberglass?

I saw Jim's at the IOC . this was what i was going to do also at one point. Then Carl came up with the triple pod for the 928 and i used that instead.

As i look at our pictures...Nice radio BTW Jim.

Jim's car does look awesome, gauges, nets on doors etc.
I think he got them from the Merc dealership and just adapted them to his doors. They work pretty good and look stock. I've been thinking about doing it to mine

I don't want to steal his thunder. Jim, that's your que.......

I fabbed mine up w/sheet plastic and epoxy. Covered in leather. Installed the gauges in plastic angled gauge bezels by Autometer, angled/tilted in the driver's direction.

I agree w/ everyone that line of sight is important. It depends on what gauges you are installing.

Sorry 'bout the grainy pics...
