Caught that front engined Porsha 3 times.
First time was when the 911 spun and guess who came roaring by as
the "Feather first" car was facing the wrong way.

And a certain Hotel person got interviewed when Alan de C was querying
what the racers do for a day job. (Joe Fan)

Mark A. Any in car footage video? Be cool to hear the V8 scream all the
way around the banking. (VHS? DVD?)

I just watched the Speed Channel stuff its collective nose up GM's butt so far that they almost couldn't see the Porsche blow away all the Cadiddlyacks and other "muscle" at Cleveland. The coverage was so biased that I thought they'd doctor out the winner.
Then I watched a bunch of late model Porsches in a very badly covered POC race and NEVER ONCE did Alan DeCadenay have the ***** to mention that a 25 year old car blew away most of the competition in a totally ignored second race.
$$$$$$$$$ talks!!

I was also annoyed when they didn't say much about the #66 car winning the race. They where more focused on the Caddy team. *******!

Yep, if I wouldn't have read Mark's post, and saw the 1/4 second blips of a 928, I wouldn't have known such a car was on the track. Sadly, 928s didn't sell that well when they were being made, and they must not sell air time.

We did get to see Joe Fan's face during the driver intro section, where was Mark Anderson?

Back to [NOT] viewing NASCAR on Speed.

Wait a minute folks!! Mark ran in a short enduro race, (barely an enduro)where none of the big shots showed up. in fact, the top car behind Mark was in my class (R5) POC running a best of 1:50s whereas Mark A runs in the low 1:42-3s and runs in the much higher class R2.

Im the greatest fan of Mark As car anywhere as you all know, but lets go easy on Speed channel for doing a great job in the race and the show. we should be thankful that Mark's friend and producer Darumple (sp?) put in those clips of Mark and the spinning 911s in a entirely different RACE!!!!!! What was Alan DeCadenay supposed to say. " hey folks, there is a 20 year old 928 going against lower prepared 911s that are also 20 years old and 4 classes lower. Look how he is lapping everyone 2 times!!! ) I dont think that would be that interesting to the viewrs!! Now, if they had shown some of the club race and talked about marks car running with the best of them as a side note, that would have been cool!

the show was about the 4 hour enduro and all the teams drivers that drive their cars for the entire 4 hours, not the other race that mark ran in.

Does anyone have a tape of the SpeedGT cleveland race?? Tivo had too much going on and missed it!! (speed touring, GT, nascar Sears point, POC enduro, etc)

There was some interesting crashes. cool to see the guys we usually run with on the small screen. I forgot the names, but a few of the guys Mark A knows well met that wall pretty hard. what about the lock up into the tires.(actually, lost brakes !!) i have a hard time believing a GT3cup car can loose it brakes! Looks like he just overbaked the turn. I bet cort wagner was pissed when he wasnt able to run when his partner wrecked the car!

Did you notice all the tallent? cort wagner, craig stanton, tommy kendall, anders hainer, (whom is now getting so good, he is beating boris Saids times in the same car as team mates in Grand Am!)

NOW the one thing i am disappointed, is that MARK and JOE didnt run the big race. NOW, that would have been something Alan would have taken notice of, especially if they would have done well. (and it looked like if they kept their noses clean, they would have!! )

Next year, LETS DO IT!!!!

A re-read of Mark's first post in this thread would clue everyone-in to the fact that there were two races started simultaneously.

Speed-TiVOing through the coverage would clue everyone-in to the fact that Speed did not mention the other race at all.

No. The show was about the sponsors (Home 123 in particular) that paid Speed to televise the race. As CarChick said: "I've seen less boring infomercials."

I would have been satisfied with 1 or 2 minutes of coverage about the 'other' POC race.

1. We ran for 1.5 hours, had to pit for a tire change and add fuel. That hardly qualifies as a sprint race.
2. The second place car was an ex Alex Jobe GT3rs. For those of you who do not follow ALMS, Alex Jobe is the unofficial factory car.

Yes I am dissapointed in the lack of coverage. I was not expecting much as the main focus is the 4 hour race but about 1/2 of the cars on the track were in the 1.5 hour race. 2 years ago the entry list for the 4 hour was so lite that they came up with the race within a race idea to save the event.

I thought the coverage was pretty cheesy. I'm a fan of Alain De Cadenet and though he brings advertising value to the event, the coverage quality was **** poor. Almost similar to that NASCAR show where the coverage quality and annoucer's eloquence are better suited for WWF

Hey, didnt mean to take anything away from the shorter enduro. BIG SORRY if you took at that way. Main point was to defend the speed guys that did a great job on the show. as they said, this was one of the ONLY televised club races in the country!

the point was, we cant really expect a show about the main race to give coverage of a secondary race. even though they are running on the track together! I thought it was great coverage and caught all the quick shots of the white beast especially near the action. (even my 3 year old caught it , and was saying " there is Mark Andesons car!" )

what place were you overall when the 1.5 hours expired?? how did they keep track of who was 1.5 and who was going the 4 hours. If you were leading the 1.5 hours, could you have kept going ??? ha ha.

Not trying to pick a fight here, but less than 1/2 second is hardly blowing anyone away.

Mark,
It was good to see you on Speed. Who was in the sliver / gray car? There was a split second shot him through a corner.

How does your car run vs the Ferrari's?

I beg to differ at the speeds these guys are running at. Even a half second is a considerable amount of time in ANY SUCH RACE. If you spend enough time on the track trying to find one quarter of a second (the photo finish) it is very difficult.

My bad, it was .038 at the finish - less than a quarter of a second. WAY off from blowing anyone away.

There are 2 Ferrari 360 GT's in our club and both driven by gentleman drivers. The day after the 4 hour enduro we had a 20 minute sprint race and I beat the Ferrari but not by much. We traded positions several times but in the end I prevailed. That said if you put a pro driver in the Ferrari there would be no contest as he would be several seconds per lap faster. Those are factory built by Ferrari for ALMS GT and cost $480k each. If they didn't kick my but it would be a discrace for Ferrari. I must say that the first time I went head to head with one I was a bit nervous. I dove under him in a braking zone and had visions of locking up and driving through him.
