Anthony, a guy with a stock 88 with RMB where I used to live said it dyned 10 hp and torque all through the band... It also makes it sound like Risky Business, and the stock set up is TOOOOOOOOOOO Quiet...

Thanks for the tips guys, I've got some rubber curbs I use for parking in the garage, I will just back up onto those and crawl up under it, no need to jack it up it sounds...

I can't wait! won't be able to sleep tonight, the car has been in the family since Dec 86, and it has always NEEDED some sound!

I know this will put me in the minority here, but I think the RMB is a touch too loud (on my '88 at least). If you appreciate the civilized manners of a stock exhaust setup, you'll probably find that the RMB makes it sound beastly.

I'm right on the edge with mine, in terms of being happy with it. I don't take the car on long highway trips often, but if I did, I'd probably return it to stock setup, or perhaps a mufflered, cat-less system. There is some part throttle droning at some rpms, but it's definitely louder across the board. Idle is loud, too. For goofin' off around town with the windows down, it's pretty fun.

Certainly the extra sound pressure turns more heads, too!

I used to run the "test pipe" setup with the RMB, but that was just freakishly outrageous, and very uncouth on a car with as much thoughtful design as the 928. It's a matter of style.

I can imagine having two 928s, one quiet, powerful and understated for a night on the town, another a snarling, frankly sporty, GT car.

Yea but I am 27 and love hot rods... every time I see Risky Business I rewind it and watch te chase scense cause I can't get enough of the V8 Porsche SOUND! I am ordering a test X- pipe as well, I want it to sound like a strung out Ferrari when I get on it...

I haven't heard an x-pipe yet, but I'm thinking that one with the resonators and a nice, lighter weight muffler would be a pretty hot setup.

It's a V8 for gods sake!, surely you want to hear it's a V8?
The RMB is quite tame under conservative driving, but if you hit the kickdown that RMB announces to the world that it's a 320 BHP V8 Porsche that just nailed you, and not some souped up 2 litre hairdryer on steriods!

Yep, after the X pipe will either be a Borla or a Magnaflow... can't decide which yet...

algie, that is what I am preaching, I am sure it won't be loud anough after I get used to it, but from stock it is going to sound like a beast...

I see Borla makes a replacement muffler. I am sure this will sound better than stock and reduce some back pressure, which is clearly evident in the system. I removed the muffler on my turbo because it was too damn quiet and although it sounded nothing like my SC with headers and 4" dual outlet Borla exhaust I can at least hear what is going on.

I found I actually listen to the stereo in this car something I have only turned on once in the turbo. I love to hear these engines sing and the rasp of an open exhaust is better music to my ears. These cars are very quiet also and I would like more sound but not too much.

It looks like a simple replacement of probably 10 min install and 10 min alignment if your picky. For the price it is a bargain and can easily be swaped in and out. The simple J pipe on the turbo from Fabspeed is more expensive and is just a small 3" dia pipe. I am interested in your feedback when it is installed. With the exhaust as it is I can't see how the muffler does much of anything except get rid of the grunt and gurgle which makes downshifting and higher revs sound so great.

BTW autozone sells a set of 2 step ramps that will raise the car 2 & 4" for about $40. Worth every penny and I can easily get under either car by using these for oil changes and simple procedures like this.

Thanks for the feedback on the Borla, I installed some of these on my Mustang, and man it was the best 200 bucks I ever spent, because the car is about half as loud at ALL speeds except WOT, then it screams... best of both worlds, loud when you want, and not annoying as hell cruising around attracting police... Heck, the cops don't hardly look at my Stang anymore as it sounds like a 5.0 with mufflers, where it used to sound like a mufflered Nas Car...

Has anyone pictures of RMB fitted? Not so much the underside of the car, more how it looks externally when installed.
