My strip is still in place after doing this fix 10 years ago back in 2005.

tried it, as per instructions followed on this tread, but maybe my strip is really bowed, and 3M panel tape(luckily sold also in Italy) has no complete hold.
without aids, strip is more than 1/2 inch bowed, with 3M tape the central part struggle to hold and strip "comes back" 3-4 mm .Unless something new product is for sale now, I think I need something more powerful.

I can't believe this thread is 10 years old. It seems like yesterday.

Herre is my toilet bolt fix for the GTS rear reflector. Done in August 2006, no problems ever. Still nice, straight and not visible from the outside.
@ Francesco
I would go to a hardware store and by some long (about 130 mm should be fine I think) M5 or M6 bolts with an oversize heads. These toile bolts are not available in Europe.Take a DREMEL tool or a grinder. Grind the heads down until you get a nice rectangualr shape (2nd picture below). Mark the position on the backside of the reflector and carefully make to rectangular holes. Just big enough for the bolts to fit in.
Now you need to drill through the rear bumper AND the body of the car! Sounds scary but it is easy. Install the bolts into the reflector again, turn them 90º and install the whole unit. Tighten the bolts form the inside of the trunk.
The nuts don't need to be tighten a lot. Just as much as you need for a flush reflecter, done.

siscogts - Francesco email me your address and I will put a set of bolts in the mail for you - don't waste anymore time with tape.

Thank you roger, maybe I was not so clear before. I have the bolts.Thrones in Italy are very similar to US ones.
the matter is: I think they are too long, about 14 cms(5,5") I read that your bolts are about 3".RIght ? have you cut one of the bolts, both or you inserted them in the prevoiusly prepared holes as they were?
In this case I will just have to dremel them.

You can either drill holes in your rear panel, or use panel tape for a proper repair.

This thread confirms my suspicions that we have some S**t house engineers on this list!
I gave up trying to fix my strip with double sided tape- probably the heat. Found it held for a short while and then back to square one.
I may have another go at it but not sure I like using through bolts even though it will surely work - just do not like drilling holes through things that do not have holes in them.

randy , you was right maybe.
Yesterday night I removed the car cover, car been sitting for one month, and found a crack in the red part of reflector strip.
Bolts were not tightened heavily , I could move nut by hands because strip was bowed but not too much.Or maybe the crack allowed some more movement and loosen bolts.
Anyway, time for a new reflective strip.
Then came to my mind that I am paneling a rooftop with 40x40cms(3,5cms thick) oak panels , and I am using Wurth adhesive velcro to fix them , as the owner of this house wan't see screws(it is like a parquet, but on the rooftop). they weight a lot , but this velcro seems to hold really well. I will try this and let you know.
