I always thought that my rear wiper was half broken...only one spring on the dual arm wiper for the rear hatch and what looks to be a broken ring where the 2nd spring used to be.

Is this correct or...were they originally equipped with only one tension spring?

I only have one spring too. The PET doesn't show the detail. Seems to work well with one.

My 85 has one and it feels a bit lose when it's lifted. My 86.5 project car has both. This tells me that there should be one spring for each arm and my 85 is missing one. Even with one spring it works well, except when I want to lift the arms for cleaning.

looks like I bought a used arm with one spring to go along with my existing one spring arm...looks like I'll modify one set by adding the 2nd spring
