Thermostat and flush running hotter

Mine is an 88 S4 auto....with some help from Bill I figured out why the car ran so cool....because of a vaccuum leak the heater valve was always open..thus adding some additional cooling, but more heat to the cockpit....a quick zip tie on the heater valve fixed that and I tracked down the vaccuum leak later. I would venture a guess that most properly running 928's all run around the same acutal temp..just variations in how the gauge reads effects where the lines end up? However I like having a "cooler" car!
I have heard that the "oil regulator" (available as a kit from specialists) can cause low oil pressure (my car did that) & hotter water temps.... Its right above the oil pressure sender & pretty easy to replace...cheap too about $40! I'm chaning mine at the next oil change!
