A fully polished Eaton blower and manifold. I'm psyched at how it came out.

DAMN! That looks AWESOME!

You're going to need to polish the rest of your engine to match!

How does one polish a piece of aluminum to that luster, anyway? That's terrific.

Sorry about the text but that's how I uploaded the pics to my site.
These should melt the goggles right off.

Now that's what Willis is talking about! AWESOME!

Can that be done on the Autorotor?

Abby,
The Autorotors can come polished from the factory. They are just as shinny. The inlet, belt tensioner and pretty much all the metal parts of the whole kit can be polished.

But how? How does one polish metal like that?

Thad,
One takes metal to a polishing shop.
I really don't know what they did but I bet they did it real hard or did it real long.

The stock casting of the Jag/Eaton SC is really rough. I was pretty amazed to see that they could finish it that well. And considering the odd shape and nooks and crannies it's even more amazing. The shop mentioned that they would first sand it with various grits from rough up to 2000 or 3000 grit. Then they probably used some sort of polishing compound and a high speed buffer.

Andy, you need some shots of that polishing work against a black cloth/towel etc. under indoor light. that would really show it off.

Hmmmm how about against your gloss black inlet, Derek's flat black manifold, flanked by your prototype polished fuel rail covers?

I assume it is clearcoated to prevent oxidation? If not, any aluminum alloy will begin to grey in just a few months.

The manifold and other parts are powdercoated clear but the SC is not. The PCers wouldn't do the SC w/o disassebmly. There are polishes and other treatments such as wd40 and corosion X that will keep the polish on the SC from oxidizing much longer. The clear PC kills some of the luster so it's a trade off.

Andy K
