Question Passenger Seat Problems

My wife and I carpool a few days a week so the other day I went to move the passenger seat back and there was a problem. One side of the seat moves (the side closest to the door), but the other doesn't so it won't go all the way back and it's crooked. Does the seat have two motors or can it get off of one track somehow?

I need to figure this out because I like taking my car on our carpool days. With less leg room on that side from the fuse panel, the seat only half way back and the wife being 6'-2", it's not so comfortable for her so we can't take the shark

Thanks!

John,
Both sides are connectet via a shaft. The motor sits in front of the seat below the black plastic cover and uses a small gear system to drive both seat rail shafts.

Try cranking it backward manually using the handcrank you'll find in the tool tray under the rear hatch latch. Insert the crank in the female socket located in the plastic cover at the front of the seat. The seat should crank backward and forward, though only at a snail's pace. At least you will have some relief until you find time to remove the seat and catch the gremlin that is corrupting proper motion.

I've had this on drivers side, there is a black cable which is positioned at the front of the seat that had popped out, it is driven by a small cog. I dismantled it in order to understand it a wee bit better and it does'nt appear to have anything to lock it in position, so I just popped it back in.
I guessed that it was my brother fishing about underneath to move the seat backwards instead of pressing the handy electric seat buttons!!

I had the same problem. The seat rail screws are driven from a central motor by flexible shafts which as Algie says simply push in. One of yours has probably pulled out.

I have a similar problem with my 86 s. difference is i can use a drill to adjust forward and back. the control will move the seat to the rear only... no forward. the cables and rails are straight and true and the ends are square and clean. the question is... is it the switch or the motor. Help please! Brian
