Default Engine shipping costs EU-US

The cost of shipping a GTS engine from Europe to USA are threatening to kill off my Devek engine rebulid project. I have been quoted approx $4300 for a return ticket for my stripped down engine. And that is excluding tax and stuff, not to mention the probable tax on top of Deveks job and also shipping...

So, does anyone have anything to recommend in this case? Any specific shippers who might do this cheaper etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ola

There are several people in Finland who bring parts for old US cars in containers from California. I can't imagine them doing it with as high costs as you quote. Try to ask from local Chevy etc parts dealers how they handle it. You should get total under $1K easily.

if you find a good company im sure the cost would be much less. make sure to post details of whom you use if they are good.

you should be able to rent a whole cargo container for about $1k... talk to local import/export companies and see if your motor can hitch a ride in one of theirs
