Default Jacquemond Wide Body Kit

Williow Grove Auto Top is in the process of installing a Jacquemond kit on my '86 928. The rear bumper cover appears to be 1" off. I have notice there is a difference in the distance between the light and the bumper cover between 78-86 and the newer '87 style. I was told to cut back the metal, which was done however the cover still does not fit. Any one have any experence Help.

its a kit you will have to modify and dont be surprised it seems many people who has the jacquemond widebody kits have run into fitting issues. Also Jacquemond only designs kits for 87 and up

You're trying to install a later style bumper cover on an early car. Normally, people modify the cars tub to fit the S4 style.
How good are their fabrication skills?

The S-4 rear cover has the lights too high and they sit too far forward to fit the 78-86 body unless you do a LOT of CUTTING removing the ledge below the rear top of the 1/4 panel opening and part of the cross bulkhead behind the tool kit cover(the outer ends) which you then should close with sheet metal. My guess is the body guys at Jacquemond may just glass over the holes. The more common A I R replica "S-4" rear cover has the lights lower and is intended to fit the early body with no cutting. BUT BIG BUT ..fiberglass parts almost always need "fitting".

kevin, stick with it. im inclined to believe oliver may be correct and that it is possible to make the peice fit and turn out a very nice boddy-kitted 928. ive been as far as having fitted a glassfibre front to my car and the guys in the body shop new they were in for trouble even before the part arrived, it seems that there is never a fibreglass part that lines up exactly - they all take some fiddling!

sounds like the part you have there is no different to a standard late model rear valence and these wont fit the early car without extensive modification either, i think the guys at 928int have info on what it takes to make the standard part fit.

What Jim said about the lights is correct. Bellow is a pic of my car when I had an S4 tail end installed some years ago. If you look closely you can see where the rear bulkhead had to be altered - as in hammered in to make space for the bigger S4 tail light pods. Also note the cut-out between the bulkhead and rear wheel arch.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Pierre.
