Default Fuel Rail Insulation - replacement

I am removing the inlet manifold and cam covers on the 89S4 ready for powder coating.
The insulation around the fuel rails, as I expected, has disintegrated.

What has anybody done about replacing the insulation?
Can you purchase a replacement (did not see it on any parts sites).
Can you use copper pipe insulation?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Roger

Roger,

You may want to spring for the new style replacement covers, they have the insulation "blow molded" into the actual covers. They surround the rails with approx 1" of foam instead of a thin piece of foam wrapped around the fuel rail.

Cost for the new covers are $30.12 (left 928.110.017.00) and $32.12 (right 928.110.018.00), both are listed on our website.

Roger,
BTW, pull one of the covers off of your GTS as it should have the later style and you will see what I tried to describe.

David,
That sounds nice and easy.
Once I finish the manifold on the S4 I have to check the cam timing on the GTS so will pull one and have a look at the difference later today.
Thanks,
Roger
