Default Sorting Out My Interior

Hey guys .. I got started on this in the post on leather dye ... but I think I need to post a new thread ...

Please look at these pictures of my interior and tell me what is wrong ... Rixter and Jim told me that it is not the correct console for my MY. Other than the butt ugly Pep Boys cover on the steering whell, anyone see any other awfulness? I already know about the left side driver's mirror plate laying upside down and teh rear view mirror broken off. If anyone with a 78 Euro wants to post their console, I would appreciate it! I've seen Nicole's pictures in her thread and am thinking along those lines but undecided as to color. I like the gray.

Cheers,

Dave

I do not know the exact details of the 78 Euro, but here are some things I noticed, based on general 928 knowledge:

The pinhole beside the clock has a ghost of a crest. It looks this part may have come from a Weissach, because the round clock is correct for '82 and its the only 928 I know of that came with a crest on the dash/consol. Or, maybe someone stuck a crest on there because they though it looked cool.

Your vents aren't stock. They should look more like the vents in the doors, with the louvres pernedicular to the length of the vent. It looks like the whole top of the center console trim was chopped off, and this other vent module stuck in its place.

I'll take some better pics when I get the chance. This is the best I have right now.

Default A closer, larger photo

By the way, this car is 9288101557 - hey, your big brother!
I very seriously doubt the interior has been altered by any previous owner.

Thanks, me too. Unfortunately, the front seats are falling apart, and there are so few green interiors out there, that I'll be doing some dying myself real soon (I hope it's soon).

Dave,
I noticed the A/C button which is not there on my 82. I think it came in after 82 but I'm not 100% certain. Unless that was Euro trait.
The trim around the Alpine head unit and clock seems to be laying on top and not clipped into place.

Kary,
That green interior is sweet.

It looks like Dave's vents may just be upside-down and pushed in.

Dave, there are a few different setups in the early cars... your console should look like Kary's and I can send you pics of mine which are a little diff, I have no ac and so no ac button, your glove box door is either misaligned or warped, you're missing the under dash tray for drivers side (like many of us)
you did ask to nitpick right?

I'd order the wheel releather kit from DR, makes a big diff, the rest I can help you with if you can't find it from the big3

I think the Jager stuff you mentioned (Nichol's) would look great. They also have some nice stuff that's pretty cheap to clean up the buttons and make everything look like new.

I don't know what colors will look good with the interior colors. I got the royal oxford wood grain (navy interior) from Jager for Christmas, but can't put it in until it warms up for awhile.

When you mentioned dying the seats, are you considering any other colors or cleaning up the current color? Looks like we may need to have a southeast interior party!!

my console look's like Kary's but my vent's are diff. They are the same as in the door-panel, and also includes a vent **** to adjust the airflow. Dave vent's look like they are mounted first instead of last, that way creating the "cut off" look. 78-79 models had my option as standard. Part number's used for this setup is 928 574 + 04002, 45502 and 45302.

Looks like someone copped the badge and made a paperweight out of it ...

The progeny of Kryptonite from the Good PO in Mississippi in about 1997 (who is a Prince of a guy, BTW and has been very helpful to me) until I obtain it is very murky. The murk includes being parked outside, chickens roosting; guns being fired; strange poltergeists working on the engine.

I appreciate your observations Jessa! Thanks!

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Big Brother!

Hey remember the time you stole that quart of beer when you were 17 and I was 13 and we went to the tree house and smoked Lucky Strikes and drank the beer and then threw up over the side of the tree house?

Heh ... ahh the memories!

Back on Topic .... your pictures look to me just like the manual ... I suspect that the console has been in and out of the vehicle several times along with the dash and doors. I just can't wait to pull everything off and see what kind of creative wiring has been done.

Oh and the clock didn't come with the car like that, it is from a junk yard supposedly and it is stuck. At least it isn't stuck at the exact same time Kenneddy was shot in Dallas. Now that WOULD have been freaky.

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks as always for the help, I appreciate it! And Yes I do want Nit Pick, please.

If you could post a couple of straight on pics of your console I would thank you!

I may not return the car to a 99 points concours -- which isn't my intent, anyway, but I do want it to have a nice functional interior.

I still love Nicole's interior work, particularly the wood.

Cheers,

Dave
