Harness mounting
im tring to locate a good mounting point for a 5pt harness without going to a full cage or rollbar bar. i know devek sells the hooks for the shock towers but arent the shock towers too lateral for a harness hook up?
should it be more in the middle of the car ?
thanks

Middle of the car? You have specific angles for harness attachment and the Devek hooks work perfectly. If you have the shoulder straps too vertical, spinal compression is a possibility during an incident. Mine have passed tech inspection many times. I don't believe they would have manufactured them if they wouldn't work with all sanctioning bodies.

V-tach - please take into consideration that running a 5 or 6 pt harness without at least a rollbar may not be a good idea. The problem is that if (god forbid) the roof crushes in a rollover, you'll be strapped by the harness bolt upright in your seat. If you run the stock 3 pt belts at least one's body & head have some room to move as one's (hopefully helmeted) head is forced down.
If you're looking at getting 6 pt harness because you're sliding in your seat, try getting a more supportive seat first. You want the right tool for each job. The seat's job is to hold your body in place and the belts' job is to restrain you in an incident.
There are lots of trade-offs when it comes to safety equipment so I hope this will get you to at least examine the situation more closely before installing something. You might want to post a message in the Rennlist Racing forum. There are lots of people on there with a ton of experience who can help you make a good decision.

thank you!
what i meant by the middle of the car - is that the rear shock towers seem to be to the side a bit. when i look at a roll cage or roll bar it looks like the harness straps are attached directly behind the front seats (more in the middle or towards the centerof the car from the rear shock towers). i hope this better explains it...
