I would also strongly advocate putting in an accusump.

Mark, why don't you put that motor in a non sunroof ob, then you don't have to cut/weld/fill

I bought a 1988 5sp as a donor car to do the project with so I had that chassie. Plus I liked the later version of the way the lower rear a arm attached. There was also some interest in having a later VIN. Some organizations have rules about updating and back dating parts and I did not want that to be an issue.

red,
you can get a 3 quart accusump with mounting brackets and electric valve (tied to ignition so you don't forget to turn it on) for under $300 from racer parts wholesale. then it's just a matter of some an lines and sandwich adapter to get it tied in. not rocket science.

I agree, you can do your own Accusump system for about $300 in parts, I did. It is just too spendy if you scramble the engine, $300 is nothing next to a $10k rebuild.

I mounted mine behind the front bumper, short lines, filter adapter, electric switch, worked great.

Wow, I had no idea it was so inexpensive. Thanks, guys. I'll probably do that!

As for switching the tubs, no way. That is way too much work for the time allotted, and like I said, I want to fill it in for the challenge. Call me crazy, but I like doing thinks like that.

Nick,
I bought the swaybar from Tom Falkenberg (shaaark89). It is used. From what I hear, the weltmeister 928 bars are not made anymore.

I have a red sunroof that devek helped me customize and it has tabs (machined by devek) to attach to the cut out sunroof area. its still a heavy piece of steel, but much lighter than the full sunroof. we got 25lbs total out of the to of the car, and still retained this piece. let me know if you are interested in it, otherwise, you have to do this work yourself, or work on welding another piece of thinner steel to the top of the car.

I wouldnt worry about the accusump with the 2 valve motor, i ran one HARD for years with no issue, and no issues when i looked at the bearings when i changed the engine to the 5 liter bottomend. still that engine had no accusump, and i still dont have one in my 4 valve head S4. (but i do more crossing of the fingers and knocking on wood now!) Just use amzoil and shift at 6000rpm
