My "Supermodel928" runs 13.3/105 and 0-60 in 4.8sec

I went to the drag strip last night here in Vegas. In a nut shell these are my 3 time slips and and a screen shot of the GTEC showing a 0-60 run that coincided with timeslip #2
Ill have more later inlcuding video

) as im litterally out the door to help Darien with a timing belt change. I just wanted to get this posted. Im pretty F-N happy with it!. With some work i may be able to get 13.0....but we know how hard those last 10ths are to get. With drag radials i know i could do it, as again, i left a little time in the 1st 60ft
Car was ran as driven on the street, pump gas and street tires, however i did drop the tire pressure to 20psi on my 18" wheels.
I got lots of
on the car, including the sound. People were generally amazed that its an 87 with 151,000 miles!!

....and BTW, no $hit about my RT in #1.
They installed a new set of lights at the strip for these "Midnight Mayhem" sessions. They are basically a set of trafic lights...but on the first runs, no one really knew how to stage or run them...
Theis GTECH runs corresdonds with run #2 for reference. It shows that the device is pretty acurate overall...with in 1mph and 1/10thsec

Mr. Pontiac must have had some trouble even seeing you in the distance as you disappeared down the strip.
And, yes, it is amazing how a decently cared for 928 can look so new after 18 years. The paint on the older cars is almost indestructible. It is by far the toughest paint I have had on a car. If my 89 does get any fine scratches, I have to beat the living hell out of my buffer to get them out. Many of the fine polishes I used with ease on my previous cars have absolutely no effect on the 928 paint. Hard as a rock.
You've got a jewel there, Tony. Not bad for a "dead" automatic transmission.

That was amazing to what Tony light-em up at the burnout area
, just before lining up to the light. (those poor rear tires
)There were quite a few people commenting on his car as he pulled up to stage.
I was filming from the side fence, and the bwaaa factor sounded beautiful as he took off down the strip. Blew the guy's doors off in the other lane!
Unfortunately, I got there too late to get the Koenig in to race. I was pretty bummed... Apparently there were too many cars already in line. Oh well, I'll go earlier next time.

With a better launch and drag radials you should drop into the high 12's. Your speed is quite good though, and the G-tech is very close to the actual time slip, so the G-tech is pretty accurate! Keep it up!

Those drag radials would make a huge difference in the 60' times, and drop you down well into the 12's.
I wish spring would get here already so I can go out for a few timed runs in mine.

nice runs!
if you're running street tires, you should avoid the water box. The water will stay in your treads, get the rest of the track wet, and kill your launches. Do you have a pair of stock rear S4 rims? You should wrap them in a pair of BFG comp T/A drag radials (like 255s+). When drag-racing, the larger the profile tire (more rubber), the better your launches will be because the rubber can flex instead of break loose on the pavement. Also, make sure to load your entire driveline, but only do so for 2 seconds before the launch because it'll heat up your torque converter alot.

Glad you made it to the track and had fun. I went to the opening day at Atlanta dragway to get some times for the Jag/Eaton setup. Drove 50 minutes, paid $20, went through tech, got in line, waited 30 minutes behind 150+ cars, found out that the line had not moved in an hour, waited 30 more minutes, line still had not moved. I just went home and headed out to watch supercross. I am going to try it again on Friday night.
With a little practice you should be able to get into the mid 12's on street tires. The first fun I ever did on 8.5psi, with a very small intercooler, and the exact tires you have was 12.8sec. I got 12.7 that same night and that was at 2700ft above sea level. Shane also got 12.5sec on street tires.

I like reading the drag stories on here. Several years ago there weren't any. Also, there weren't very many in-car video clips from the racers; probably not as many racers either. It seems to all be coming together. Excellent progress!

Heres the log works data for the run (its also the 4.8sec 0-60)
The first little blip in the RPM curve isnt a shift but my wheels getting traction again. I have the video all done but the process "times out" when uploading to Rennlist. The file is 2.7mb and includes a video of the logworks screen so you can see what was "happening". Pretty cool actually. MPEG II and plays on my windows media player here.
Ill try getting it up again soon. If not perhaps i can email it to someone who has a decent server to host it for a while?
Andy, this was the opening night for the seasons events as well. Started at 8pm, i was there at 720 and got #136. They closed entrants at # 300 some around 10pm or so, thats when Bill and his SC Koenig got there and was turned away. Good news was he held the camera for me

Ok, this is my first post of a technical nature, but I'll go ahead and possibly make myself look like an idiot...
A little background on myself first:
My mom (57 yrs young) owns a 1991 300ZX Twin Turbo that I drive every chance I get when I'm home (not often). For years this was the car that I wanted. Fast, solid, sleek. As I started saving seriously for a real car, our 2nd child arrived and my wife began to look askance at my future choice of transportation (daily driver). So I let her convince me that any future vehicle I owned would have a back seat. Well, as most of you know, the cars out there that are fast, solid, sleek, _and_ have a back seat are few and far between. I eventually stumbled across the mighty 928 and instantly fell in love. I've been a lurker on Rennlist for over a year and follow the Supermodel/Supershark threads with much enthusiasm as I know that any Shark I own will eventually have a blower on it. Prior to being converted, I was a lurker on TwinTurbo.net (300ZX site) for over 4 years, and have seen many > 400 rwhp forced induction dyno charts.
So my question is this:
Tony, looking at your A/F ratio and Injector duty cycle, it is fairly obvious that the injectors are maxed out (i.e. flat lined close to 100% duty cycle) over a large portion of the RPM band. Correlating this with the A/F ratio curve, those areas with maxed duty cycle correspond with linearly rising A/F ratio areas. Guys on the 300ZX site would literally run away screaming from this scenario, as it led to many a blown engine due to fuel starvation/detonation. The common fix to this was to install larger fuel injectors. I know that many folks on here talk about increasing injector size as an option, but shouldn't this be mandatory to prevent situations like this (your A/F ratio/injector duty cycle) from happening? Has anyone blown an engine doing this on a 928? Is the engine fuel management system different on a 928 than a 300ZX? Is fuel management different on a supercharged engine than a turbocharged engine? Basically it all boils down to that I'm confused as to why maxed injector duty cycle is acceptable here, when in another vehicle it is not.
Again, apologies if I don't know what I'm talking about, but I had to ask.
