Tips on side marker bulb replacement?

LED lightbulbs
My first 928, a 1982 club sport had LED bulbs when I bought it in 2011. The Tail light out indicator stayed on until I replaced the bulbs with incandescent bulbs. I guess the difference in power requirement turns the warning light on

And just a side note: If you try to remove the side light assemblies be aware that the bolts are probably frozen to the studs, and since they seem to be pressed into the plastic of the light housing the studs will simply spin and require breakage to remove.
Annoying design, but that's Porsche.

And you can remove the headlight cover and headlight to access the front marker lights - way easier than removing the front wheels and splash covers.

Pet shows the screws and the headlight assembly blowup. That said, I find it easier and safer to pull the liner sections vs. disassembling the headlight bucket and the light assembly from the yoke. By the time I need to replace a bulb, the liners need to come out for cleaning the forward cavity, inspecting/repairing the broken horn support bracket, replacing the horns with louder, inspecting/replacing the Y fitting at the carbon canister, flushing the junk out of the bottom of the washer tank, and more I'm sure. There's a whole lot of cleaning to do WYAIT.

UPDATE with Photo
I had the opportunity to replace the driver's side rear marker bulb on my '82 this past weekend, so I thought I'd update this thread with a photo showing the tab-release mechanism from inside the rear quarter. Note that you first need to remove the plastic shroud at the back of the wheel well to better access the side marker assembly (three screw bolts + washers), and even then it's a tight squeeze with the rear muffler crowding the space, but once you pull off the rubber boot that covers the wire connection, you see the following:
Push the metal tab just a millimeter or two to the right and the bulb socket assembly will be released. The wire should be long enough so that you can drop the socket/bulb below the wheel well for easy handling and replacement. Replace the bulb and test before reassembly. Good luck!
