Default Holy Moly!! (moly grease)

So where do I get it locally? Optimoly or a "moly" type grease that's good to use while doing the clutch this weekend. I didn't think about it earlier so I'm hoping it's carried at Napa or Autozone, etc. Anyone know where to go and get it without having to order it over the net?

Say, Mark, where did you get that banner? I'll be in Pensacola in April and maybe I can pick one up.

I switched all the equipment here at work to Schaeffer products. All the oil analysis has come back positive. Much better than the chevron products we used to use.

Getting the correct lube (Optimoly olista?) for the intermediate shaft from your favorite Porsche supplier will give peace-of-mind after you've spent Porsche $ on the kit and needed parts.

As for the moly spray the manual calls for, I used dry graphite spray on the recommendation of a noted 928 personality/expert.

Ok. Lesson learned here. Went to the local auto store and they said "oh, any grease is "moly" fortified and should be fine". Two problems with that, "anything" and "fine". It's a Porsche, not a Chevette. Not too confident in that, and they don't carry anything that looks remotely familiar from Rennlist so I left.

Called the dealer today and they have the grease, but it's $25.00 (along with a 1 1/2 hour drive there & back) and even the guy at the parts department said "it's a really small tube". So the lesson is....order the darn grease with the parts or online if the big 3 don't have it. It's gotta be less than $25 out there.

I'll be getting the grease and getting down under in the morning.

I know D.R. carries it. That little tube will last you a long time. I figure even with three 5-speeds I'll not have to buy another tube for a decade.

Yep. A "little tube" but a lifetime supply. On the clutch you want to use it sparingly anyways lest globs fly off and lube the plates. I use a toothbrush and just make sure all the splines, shaft and plates, have the thinnest coating.

Note that the new clutch guide tube and sleeve for the single disk clutch have a plastic sleeve and should not be lubricated.
