Alot of folks have tried them I think. I bit soft in the middle for me. (sidewall). I was going to try Ecsta MXs on the 78 when its ready.

I've run the Kumho's on my 951. I like the Yoke's a little better....ESPECIALLY in the wet! (I just put Yoke's on the 951 last week).
Tho the ratings are the same (Treadwear 280), I feel like I get slightly better wear from the Yokes. THey also do not 'chunk' as bad if you AX or DE with them.
I think you'll be happy with EITHER!

I have them on both of my cars. Stock sizes on the S4 and on the euro I am running 255x40x17 fronts and 275x40x17 rears. No compliants. They seem good in the wet, and it does rain here.
I can't compare them to the Yoko's but they I like them much better than the Dunlops we had before. Better traction, better in the rain and quieter. Seem to be good value for the $$. Good luck

I have them on my S-4. I find them to be very noisey. I had Yoko's before. I liked them, but they wore very fast. The kumhos seem to wear a little slower. My next set will be Goodyear Eagles

Goblin, they deserve another look. If your friend thought they were the worst, then his expectations were incredibly high. I've had them on a few Porsches, and I've had Yoko / Michelin / Bridgestone / Dunlop / Toyo and of all of them I'd go with the Yoko (performance mind you, there are crappy Yokos too I've seen) ... then next I'd choose the Kumho 712 (not 711) and after that the Potenzas.
I suppose I may like Pirelli, but at that price I don't plan on finding out.

I have them on the Boxster. Handle well, especially in wet weather (AA traction). If you put those on front and the ASX (I think that's the name, 420 treadwear, AA traction) on the rear, great handling and the rear tires will last really well. I'll be putting the same setup on the 928 when the current tires wear out. We balance them about every 3K miles and I have them rotate the rear tires side-to-side since the ASX are bi-directional.

I've run the Kumho Ecsta 712's on a Miata, Infiniti Q45, and they came on my 951. I absolutely loath these tires. It was my mistake the first time on the Miata and I needed tires quick on the Q45 the second time. These tires were noisey and rode harsh from day 1, after 5K they were even worse. The wet/dry grip is fine, they will flat spot badly, I had tramlining issues on grooved pavement, and they presented very unpredictable breakaway at limit resulting in a bouncing hop rather than a slide on both sports cars they were on. I have the ES-100 on the N/A and like the feel and performance but premature wear at 6K has me concerned. I now run the (Bridgestone) Fuzions in 255-40 and 275-40/17 on the 951 and love them so far (3months). Great wet/dry grip, much quieter, and the price is killer. These were less than both the Kumho or Yokos. It's worth a look IMHO.

I have them on both my 86.5 and my 88 S4. Love them! Had the Yoko's on the S4, good tire but wore out very fast and man are they noisey!!! Kumho's are for sure the best bang for the buck but admittitedly there are better tires out there. Depends on your wallet size and the way you drive your car. Go to Tire Rack online and compare. You'll have headache when you're done but you'll be a whole lot smarter.
