center console
hi,
my center console's rear end does not sit very firmly to the "tunnel".
this is not appropriate to a high quality car like ours.
I can not find any info on this matter in the WSM. I guess some screws are loose or missing.
How do I reslove this matter?

The rear of the console is mounted to the tunnel by a screw on either side. The plastic "ears" that are screwed down will crack and the console will begin to lift. To access, remove the carpeted console panels. One of these plastic ears was broken on my shark. I used fiber glass to reform - worked like a charm.

Same happend to my car. It also resulted in malfunction of one the window buttons (Stucked when pressed).
I simply put the console back in place by pressing it firmly downwards and tightened the screws.

Those ears are very frail, and I don't see how anyone could imagine that they would last through more than one removal. I always repair mine with aluminium. That way, it can be re-mounted indefinitely.

My PO did one hack right. There's a bolt from the console into the tunnel. Both ears are gone and my repair attempt failed there. Use a nice looking screw and trim ring. Looks almost stock.

The bottoms of the plastic ears were broken in my car. I put a big washer under the bolt and that allowed the bolt to firmly grip the remaining top part of the ear. Never given me a problem in 4 years since. Probably smart to use a large washer under the bolt if you still have intact ears to spread the load and forestall breaking the ear off.
