Default 18" Wheels

I'm almost committed to buying 18" rims (8.5 front and 10 rear) for my 86.5 shark. WILL THEY FIT? If so, what size tire will I need to put on them? I'm afraid they will rub and not sure how the car will ride on that size!! Anyone out there have the same sizes?

From what I've seen of others, if they are installed right, and you don't go bigger then 285's in the rear, it should look and perform better

Impossible to tell without knowing the offsets.

Darien

Ernest is exactly right. Here is an example of an 18" wheel/tire set that works on my 86.5
FRONT: Offset 52mm, wheel size 8.5X18, tire size 225/40/18
REAR: Offset 47mm, wheel size 10X18H2 tire size 255/35/18

This set up works very comfortably on my 86.5 with the rear spacers removed. I do believe there is ample room for bigger rubber but I haven't tried. Hope that helps.

Thumbs up

Steve,

That's the exact off set so they should fit!! Thanks...

Not sure what you mean about the spacers being removed? Are they installed from the factory?

Cool

The '84 through the '86.5 have factory rear wheel spacers that need to be removed
