Default 3 sets of rims

I have 3 sets of rims. 15 inch phone dials, 16 inch flat dish and 17 inch cups. My 15's and 16's already have rubber on them but my 17's don't . Is it worth it to pay the $1200 cdn to get the new tires for the 17's or should I sell them and stick with the 16's? Will the 16's give a comfier ride or no real difference from the 17's? I have to sell one of the sets and I am debating on which set to sell, either the 16's or the 17's. the 15's i keep for a spare set of rims.

17's look much better than the stock 16's IMHO....from what I have heard (don't actually know) the 17" wheels don't ride much worse than the 16"s But 18" wheels are a bit harher? $1200 for a set of tires seems a bit steep....you should be able to find a set of Kumhos or Yokohama's for about 1/2 that (in US $$)

keep the 17's - Iceman has it, it's all about looks. Some disagree though, it's a matter of taste.

I went from 16" dials to 17" cups and if anything the ride improved. The dials had some crappy, hard old worn-out tires on them. Smoother, crisper, no more sidewall squirm. Well, a lot less anyway.

No, you don't want those 17" cups....you want to sell them to me so I can worry about the tires.

The flat dish items are superior strength, forged wheels - likely all 7x16 with 225/50R16s: many do not idolize the looks, so they have little market value - sad but true! One 'performance' option is to find a pair of 8x16 S4 flat dish wheels for the rear - and get a pair of 245/45R16 to fill out the fenders: a pair of bolt-on spacers could also be added. Sale of the 17s should more than finance this approach, and I suspect you would enjoy the performance.
To fit tires to the 17s ( assume they are 7x17 and 9x17), you need 2 each of 225/45R17 and 255/40R17. One of the Toronto guys (Mike) had UPS deliver a full set of Yokos AVS-100s with brokerage/GST/ etc for ~$850Cdn IIRC. Dave Roberts of 928 SP 'brokers' this package through Tire Rack - so a good route to support the sponsors .... if you go the 17" route.

Hello up there Mr Life....I too, am in your position. I have a set of 16" discs with new Michelin tires and I have a set of 17" cups with two new tires. I think the tires are Khomos can't remember it's been a year....any way ..I prefer the look of the Cup style rims and I think I will purchase the other two tires. What I am trying to say is that it is a personal choice. The stock rims look OK but the Cups just seem to add to the already terrific looks of the 928,IMHO...Last spring was when I purchased the two Khomos and the two tires were about 400 CAN. Those tires were the high speed rating as well. Shop around I'm sure you can do better than 1200 CAN...Good-luck

17" wheels deliver better handling performance due to the lower sidewall (profile) tire that is fitted to them. 15" wheels are a good choice for winter tire applications.

Sorry it took so long to reply.
The $1200 for the tires included balancing, valve stems, taxes (14%) and installation. I hope I can find a better deal. I think I like the looks of the cups better then the flat dish. I know the tires I have on the flat dishes are the wrong size. they had put 245/45/16 potenzas on the 7 inch rim. I think I might try what Grath suggested and try 928 sp and see what they can do for me about getting 17" tires. I think i am going to put the flat dish rims with tires up for sale and keep the 17's. If anyone knows anybody who wants to buy my 16" flat dish let me know. Thanks for everyones opinions and responses!

Just my opinion but I wouldn't get rid of your dish rims too fast. If you have the room to store them I would keep them. If you sell your 928 you can keep your cups besides the amount of dollars you would get for the dishes you would be best to keep them. I kept mine and I'm glad I did because after my accident with the 84 the insurance company doesn't care what they are worth. Trust me it 's well worth thinking about......Bill
