I have black chrome powdercoated intake runners and plenums on my meteormetallic '86.5, and think a set of cup wheels powdercoated black chrome would be appropriate.

Flying Dog, that makes two of us. I love K18s and am having trouble stealing enough lunch money from other kids to accumulate enough for a single wheel. Maybe some day some nice used ones will pop up....??!!!

That color is "black chrome", a metallic black that gets clear coated as well.

His charge is $75 per wheel. David Gagne at Teknicote in Rhode Island. He has a nice '79 928 5 speed and is a really great guy.
He has done the intake and valve covers on my '89 and knows how to deal with stripping the magnesium intake. It is a big company, but he does this kind of stuff himself to make sure it goes right.

p.s. I think the intake/valve covers are next, and the same color too.

Nice! I picture them on a silver car myself ,however; they would bring class to anything they were put on. Has a rich look to the finish very nice choice. Hats off to you and "teknicote".

When I was thinking of color there are so many (too many) silver or polished Porsche wheels out there.
I don't know how these will look, but I am sure I will like them.

Looks great! Post mounted pics soon - the suspense is killing me.

Hey Biscuits,

Do you live in Baton Rouge and own a silver 928? Niticed the "LSU" on your avatar.

Those wheels look great...thought about doing my C2's, but decided to go with a different wheel with chrome

Black chrome looks great in the engine bays.

Those wheels look amazing. Very smokey.

I thought powdercoating was a very heavy application though. How much added weight does it add to a wheel?

That looks awesome. I think it would look great on silver or black.

Moon- probably Kumho's from tire rack.
Keith- that looks awesome. I didn't know what color your intake etc. was until now. It looks like the same color. Very nice.
UD: it is not a heavy application, and if you have an item that needs paint anyway, I don't think it is a significant difference in weight. For wheels, I'm more concerned with durability and standing up to brake dust and the elements.

You can contact me at at 401-724-2230 x-222. They do have a clear powder coat on them. The charge for those would be $325.00 for the set. You have to send them in blasted ready to paint. I have flats and phone dials I use on my car that are powder coated as well.
