Default Easy trivia

What was the advertised 0-60-0 (or was it 0-100-0?) time for the 928, and which year did that appear?
[Even mediocre brains leak functional cells with age......]

That fact always fascinated me, because it seemed like a lot of stuff to be doing in only 9 seconds!

Let's see, I got my first car in '86, a Renault Alliance, and I'm pretty damn sure that I was still waiting to hit redline in 1st after 9 seconds at about 35mph! I hated that car, and wrecked it three times before the insurance company finally totaled it out. What can I say, it had like 135/13s on it which were always howling and braking loose all over the place!

On the bright side, it was a 2 door coupe!

I'm looking at that add as I write this. The add I have shows a 1987 s4 in silver. " In 9.0 seconds it can go from zero to sixty And back to zero."

Thanks!-
Yep, Chaadster wins, and a special award for Sierra for actually (almost) posting it.
As soon as I work at the prize I will let ya'll know.....

P.S. My first "car" was a 1964 IH Scout 80, and in 9 seconds motion could be detected.

9.0 seconds it is...someone has an avatar with the ad in it! I forgot who it was though? I wonder what the 0-100-0 would be 18-20 seconds for a stock car?

How does 9 seconds compare with other cars? Like Ferraris, Vettes, etc.? Is there a world record for this test? If so, I bet it's held by an F1 car.

Soom years ago one of the car magazines(I think it was Road & Track) ran that test for a group of production cars. The winner(at that time) was a 427 Cobra. After that I think the rest of the world discovered it didn't make any sence. Who drives a production car like that anyway? A current Hennesy Viper would make that time look slow. But after all this time it still sounds cool.

I'll have to run that test. Let's see if there is truth in advertising!

Its not 4.5 each side but 6 and 3. Also they used to list 0-100-0 times when Motor Trend gave stats on the featured car tests.Ed M
