Default Aero mirrors

Found these on ebay. Not OEM but very similar. Anyone familiar with these?

Not familiar with this seller, however I bought mirrors on ebay UK and had to purchase 928 mounts and new gaskets adding £65 sterling to the £155 paid for the mirrors. So you need to check you're getting everything needed to fit, it maybe worth will pricing an aero upgrade price from Porsche, I found out it's not much more expensive than purchasing 2nd hand items. Also are they all electric? some are not!

I was told that 968 mirrors are the same as 928 aero mirrors. Does anybody know if that is true. Sorry if this is a thread hijack, but it kinda seems relevant.

Well I just bought 968 mirrors so I hope so! I know I will have to change the bases but that is O.K it was about half the price of a new set.

I'm looking at a used set of 993 aero mirrors. $350 USD. Then I will need the 928 bases. $95 USD /set.

Is this a good price?

devek sell them for $350 without the glass. add $170 if you want to see behind you.

specialists sells them for $670 (?).

FYI... PelicanParts lists a MANUAL kit for $350. Not sure what it includes. BTW they say they have glass too for $130 (for both sides).

The best place to get Teardrops was Sunset Imports in Oregon. I paid $360 (group buy) for the full meal deal electric mirrors with wiring and motors and base and everything. You gotta have the electric mirrors for those occasions when you spot a hottie on the street and want to check her out using your mirrors.

FYI: The actual teardrop mirror housing has a 965 part number. This is the same part on 968s, 964s, and 928s and 993s. The base of the mirrior, however, is unique to each model. (944/928/911)

Hi Dave,
>specialists sells them for $670 (?).

That is a typo from the pricing 2 months ago and has been fixed, sorry.

Those Aero Mirror Kits from Porsche are a sore subject with us. We sold them for years for $375 and they always came with the mirrors. Then all of a sudden "Hans and Franz" decided they didn't want to include the mirror glass with the kits. Many agitated calls to Porsche has failed to rectify this.

Then they jacked the price up almost double and still didn't include the mirror glass.

Recently they have lowered the price slightly, and still do not include the mirror glass in the "Mirror Kit".

Our current price which includes the glass is $550.

If you find anyone that has them in stock for less I suggest you snag them up before they are aware of the new price changes. I guarantee the price from Porsche will only get higher pretty quickly.

Personally I find the whole Porsche Mirror "KIT" a fiasco and it infuriates me how they can send them with mirror glass for a decade and then stop for whatever reason AND jack the price up. I hate that kind of crap!

Well, they made a lot of money in the last couple of years, so now they think they are the new "business model experts" in the automotive field.....and mirrors are bling, so they can be priced to market..........

Still, in all, the aeros are a very nice style upgrade................I am glad I did them and would do it again even at the higher price. The flag mirrors are just too plain...

Hi Gretch,

I agree, I did them on my 90GT a while back, luckily I go them at the "old" relatively decent price.

I plan to do them on my 85 also.... when I find a nice used set :-)

Here are some lessons I learnt, bought 911 set of ebay = $250.

928 bases = ~$100 from 928intl.

Mirrors came with no memory, guess this is fairly common on 911's. However the old motors in my 87 flags will work just fine along with the wiring and old connectors.

There is a little more DIY involved than when you get the kit with all the parts you need.

Some dumbass specials for me were the mirrors came from UK so not much good for LHD (being a brit should have guessed but got caught up in the bidding moment), however got some complete mirror glass for $40 and will resell the RHD ones on ebay.co.uk. Just a PIA.
