she's an 82 US AT, 150k, has last 10+yrs service history:
big brake upgrade, rc134 conversion, non S, has S4 wing, test pipe, rear seats removed and boxes installed (need finishing)
it has a head gasket that's started leaking (no coolant/oil mic)
I'm going to remove and swap the heads/cams with 78-79 Euros
seats are toast but I have a really nice set from another 82 just waiting
Eric just redid carpet, console, door panels, and all electrical except the sunroof (motor works but doesn't open, cable?)
I'm hoping this becomes the daily so I can keep the wear and tear (and danger) off the 77 and get her into paint
It was a sad day for me, but im confident "mortis" has gone to a good home..It was a pleasure meeting Rixter , and i hope he (you) are/is happy with what youve got to work with.. the 928 was an entirely new experience for me (albeit short lived) , so dont be to harsh on me if everything ive done wasnt exactly perfect.. but i hope it meets and exceeded your expectations.. At some point, ill have another though, im hooked now. In time, ill give the 928 another go..
on the upside, i got to trailer home an invisible 928... Rixter can provide more details
1st off, Eric is a great guy, he met us at the Fl/Ga line (I paid for trailer rental, gas etc)
trip down was uneventful except for the construction delays
swap went great up until I got her on my trailer (I pulled on just a hair to far and broke a cross piece on the grill and almost destroyed one of the chromed rims against the side of the trailer, OUCH)
had lunch at some hole in the wall in SC or Ga.. Gradys Cafe (GREAT FOOD)
an hour from home we shredded a tire on the trailer and had to change on a THIN shoulder at 2am in 22 degree temps...
got passed twice by a really nice boxter headed to Quebec
best road sign
this was for a gas station/minimart/deli place:
EXIT NOW
EAT HERE
GET GAS
gotta love the south
here's a pic after the swap, I'll get more when I get her unloaded... so far I see receipts going back to '93, maybe further... this girl is LOUD with the test pipe on
Loaded up and leaving my home in (nice and warm) Florida:
Everyone is surprized my little truck (its only 2" or so longer than my 924) can tow so much, but this is the one Isuzu made "right" .. its a mini monster!!
On the road, i was followed the whole way by a 928!!
A fellow wasserpumper enthusiast trailering thier 944, HI GUYS!!
Waitng for Rixter at a rest stop in Georgia while he was battling construction traffic ( i had a nice nap! )
- when you check out the records let me know if you see any evidence of work done on the car in the New England Area. That car looks very, very familiar. Black, nice paint, tinted windows, S4 wing... I may know some things.
ok, here's some pics and initial observations
exterior: needs couple dents fixed and a respray on back (at least), passable at 30 feet
interior: good start, I have all items needed to complete
drivetrain: it does start and run but real rough, needs more than a head gasket for sure...
overall 3.5 out of 10, I'll revise this after I get time to go thru it completely
