Funny my 88 auto doesn't have a tiptronic.... car seems pretty clean though, if the maintence is in order? Standard wear on the drivers seat, & a rear air delete (rare), worth a closer look!

I believe you're correct. The details of the incident, AFAIK, are that an unfortunate Timberlake maneuver was performed, resulting - as you mentioned - in shifting into LOW at high revs, followed by a clumsy attempt at REVERSE, which eventually resulted in stripping.

The matching bra, mentioned above, is meant to prevent such misadventures.
